Doug and Marcel had returned from their cattle rustling duties and helped Gary and Louisa to prepare an interview room on the ground floor of the hotel, with a table and a half-dozen chairs taken from the dining room. Al and Sam joined them.
"There's been damage to overhead cables south of the town," Sam informed them. "But work can't start on restoring power until the storm subsides. That's probably gonna be tomorrow at the soonest."
"We any recording devices that'll run on batteries? Al enquired.
Sam disappeared, but returned a minute later with two small cassette recorders. "I keep them for an occasion like this," he explained. Unfortunately the recorders contained no batteries. Sam was apologetic. "Someone must have taken them for a torch."
