CHAPTER 2

2. EMILY As I slammed the door to my room, I went to the window, opening it to receive some fresh air. As the wind blew on my face, I let down my ponytail, and it flew with the wind. As I enjoyed the moment, my eyes caught the window facing me. Which was a pole away from mine. If there were a plank or something there, I saw there were curtains there already. "So someone would be staying here," I mumbled inaudibly. I went into the bathroom and had a quick shower, coming out wrapped up in my towel, and my hair let down because it was washed. I saw my phone beep, so I went to pick it up from the bed, sitting on the bed. I saw it was a message from Emily, my best friend. She has been my only friend since we moved here. But immediately as I was about to check it out, she called me. So I picked it up. "Hello, Ix," she called out. "Hey, Mily. What's up?" I asked. "I missed you," she replied. "But it's just yesterday we last saw each other," I said, smiling through the phone. That's just how she is. "Yeah, I know, but I just missed you," she said. "Let's hang out, okay? Go to a party or something like that," she added. Oh gosh! I exclaimed in my mind. I can't go to a party. I'm not the party type, or maybe something else, I don't know. I'd have to give her an excuse before she begs, please, because I can't reject her pleas. "Oh, Mily, I can't go. Please, we have a new neighbor moving in, and we have to go welcome them. I'm sorry," I added. "OH!" She exclaimed sadly. "Maybe some other time," she added. "Yeah, I'm sorry, okay?" I said. "It's okay, we........ Wait, you said you have a new neighbor moving in?" she asked. "Yeah...." I replied nervously. What is she up to? She shouldn't discover my lie, I thought nervously. "It's family dinner," I added, so she wouldn't come if that's what she was thinking. "I know," she said, making me breathe out while relaxing. "So why are you asking?" I asked curiously, as the curiosity line appeared on my forehead. "Just asking so you could take note of any pretty boys, you know, so maybe you could get a boyfriend. I can't bear to see my best friend lonely," she added. I sighed out and relaxed more. "Okay, Emily," I said, rolling my eyes, not wanting to argue with her. "Okay, make sure you look your best, okay? Do a little make ov......." "Okay, I've heard," I said, interrupting her, not ready for her nagging. "Okay, sweetie. I love you," she said. "I love you too," I replied. "Bye," she said. "Bye," I replied, cutting the line. As I said goodbye to Milly while cutting the line, I heard a knock on the door, so I asked, "Who's there?" "It's me," I heard Barb's voice from the other side. I sighed and said, "Come in." "Hey, sis," she said, waving while coming in. "Hey," I replied while going to the dressing room to get dressed. "Hey, sis, I came to apologize for what I said and how I behaved," I heard her say from the dressing room while she sat on the bed. "I'm sorry," she said while I was returning from the dressing room. "Look, sis, I'm really sorry. I shouldn't have said that to you downstairs (which she doesn't regret). You are my senior sister. I should always talk to you respectfully (while telling the truth). I am so, so, so, so sorry. Do you forgive me? Are you still angry at me?" She apologized, refuted her apologies in her head, and asked, all in one breath. I know my sister. Of course, if she didn't refute her apologies to you, then it must have been some miracle. I sat down beside her and turned her towards me. Staring into her red, fiery but lovely-cute eyes. How can I still be angry at her? She was so beautiful, with perfect eyeliners like mine. Her nose wasn't that pointed. Her chin was chiseled; we got it from our dad, but she still had a full cheek at that, like Mom's. Her lips were like mine and Mom's too, red-colored, and brown on the top and bottom-down the lower lips, just like applying a lip gloss with eye pencil as shadows. Gosh! I don't blame her when she says that the boys in her school fall head over heels for her. She's wild, the opposite of me. She has no boyfriend now, 'cause she's looking for her prince charming.......according to her. "How can I still be angry with you when you didn't drop your charm while coming to apologize, huh?" I asked, scoffing at her. "I know I'm cute," she replied, blinking her eyes repeatedly. "Hm hmm okay sis, I heard you tell Milly that you are going to our new neighbors for dinner." "Ooh, please, Barb, don't get me started on this now. I just told her so I wouldn't go with her, you know??" I replied groggily. "Sure you did, sis," she said, giving me a judgy eye. "Ooh, please don't do that. Don't give me that look. I'm just not in the mood to go anywhere," I replied, hoping she acts like she understood, but of course, not. "Yh, I get you, sis. By the time you turn old and gray," she said sarcastically, smirking. "Come on, get your butt off my bed and get away with those little feet of yours." I grabbed a pillow as I chased her away like a pest. Of course, she is one, I said internally, rolling my eyes. She giggled as she tried so hard to escape before the pillow could hit her, but she was never too fast, as the pillow hit her back twice on her fast and furious will to get out of my room. Ooh, Barb, she would one day be the death of me
