We all held our breath until the bus moved off and then the dam burst, laughter spilling forth.
“Oh my god, Reenah, that face!” Jules wheezed, batting her eyelashes. “Oh no, sir, we’re just good little students.”
“If he only knew! We’re the ones about to some B&E!” I giggled.
Gawen sobered up. “But those break-ins he was talking about. He probably meant the bank, right? I mean, what else could it be.”
I swallowed. “You’re right. I guess we’re gonna find out, either way.”
Gawen nodded, looking towards me, but not at me. I guessed he was reading my aura, the way most people read expressions. “You sure you’re ready for this?”
“Don’t I look ready?” I challenged.
“More or less,” he said, winking at me. “Don’t worry, we’re here to make up that last bit.”
