I was sitting on the back seat of the taxi, looking out of the window. There's a booming, rotating, never sleeping city in the center of my brain and no body can come in and I can't escape. I have a strange sense of pride that my brain works that way, but I'm also terrified of what would happen if I ever tried to think in another way.
The driver pulled up the car to aside and I hop out of the car and see's a Japanese restaurant across the stress. I looked down on my phone and the address Cameron sent me. According to the address I was at the right place. I treading through the road. I fixed my dress and hair's and The building was very old and badly in need of a fresh coat of paint. There were also several roof tiles missing. Not exactly a five star restaurant.
The large sign hanging in the front window was slightly tilted to the left because some broken ceiling tiles were coming out of place. It was hard to miss the brightly lit neon blinking sign that read, “Sunami”. From the front windows, I could see the tables inside and it did not appear to be very crowded. At the entrance of the restaurant, there was bronze statute of a pudgy monk sitting crossed legged with his large belly bulging out and a huge smile on his face. As I stepped inside, my ears filled with the sound of booming noises that came from the customers.
It was obvious from the sound of laughter and chatter that everyone was having a good time.
A friendly hostess were standing at the entrance like myself and she approaches me and say's," Good evening ma'am, Do you have a reservation?
" My friend have a reservation for a table, His name is Adam Lamar."
She check her list and hold me on Wait for a moment and then she say's, " I found it and please come with me."
I followed her to the table and no one was there. I guess, I came early I sat down on the table and the hostess offered me the drinks menu.
" Thank you so much." I say's and she give me a beautiful smile. I observed the restaurant. The whole ambiance of the restaurant was romantic and cozy. The floor was wooden. All decorations were delicate. There were tablecloths on the tables and the tables looked neat.
I shifted my attention on the drinks menu and after a short amount of time, a server came to my table to take my order.
" Good evening, I'm Kevin I'll be your server for tonight. Did you decided anything to drink."
I scanned the menu and decided that I wanted to have Nihonshu for drink. He laid down the food menu on the table and say's, " Great choice, Ma'am. I'll came with your drink." he say's and went off to the bar. I glanced over to my wrist watch and it was past 9 and still no sign of Adam or his soul.
Another alone night in my world all by myself. I took my phone out of my handbag.
I dialed Cameron number and call him. He picked up my call and I say's, " Hello, Cameron."
" Yes, sweet Bee, how is everything going? Did you like him? And you don't need to call me for thanks."
" Slow down! he didn't even come yet! I've been waiting for your Adam from past half an hour and he still didn't showed up."
" Seriously! He still didn't come, give me a second I'll call him and ask him, where is he at?"
" Oh no, Don't call him I'm coming back. I guess your plan is flopped."
" Don't come back please... Just wait for the few more mint's. He might be stuck in the traffic jam. "
Before words leave my mouth I was interrupted by a manly voice and as I gazed up. I see's a man standing in front my table, He was probably in his late twenty judging by his appearance, just ripe. His face was long and oval. His hair was a sable brown, and his eyes sparkled hazel under thick dark brows. His long nose was dusted with freckles… His skin was the color of Cadbury Dark Chocolate, his eyes a liquid brown so deep it was nearly back. His prominent cheekbones rose beside a wide nose and his face fell in slabbed planes around his wide mouth and carved jawline… I see diamond chains around his neck.
" Excuse me, I apologize to interrupted you but I've a question for you." he speaks in thick voice.
I hung up the call immediately and say's," Yes, please??
" Good to hear it, Is this seat occupied?
" Huh? I asked him confusingly.
" Can I sit with you?
" You wanna sit with me? why?
" Because you're sitting alone and I've been waiting for someone."
I hesitate at first, because I didn't know this guy but sitting alone, waiting for my date to come is not better then talking to a stranger.
" Okay, sure." He smiled and pulled the chair and slammed down.
" My apologize, I didn't introduce myself. I'm Victor Verde." he outstretched his hand for handshake. I peered at his inked arm.
" Hey, I'm Risa Vet's nice to meet you Mr, Victor."
I didn't handshake with him and he pulled his hand back and say's, " Its a pretty name and what you do for living? and why haven't you ordered anything?
" Thank you so much and I'm hostess at Black Pearl restaurant and what do you do Mr, Victor? I didn't order anything because I've been waiting for someone."
" Call me, Vic and I do business and staff, if you don't mind may I ask you who you are waiting for? he gave gesture to the nearby server and ordered a bottle of expensive wine. I was observing him closely. He doesn't look like a business by his appearance, half button opened of his shirt, fully inked arm and rolled up sleeves he looks more like a mafia man then a business man but who am I to judge? I cleared my throats...
" I've waiting for my date and seems like he is not coming."
" What a shame? who leave a pretty woman like you alone?
" I appreciate the compliment and who are you waiting for?
The server brought the bottle of wine and he pours us two glasses of wine for us. I took the glass and took a sip out of it.
" I've been waiting for an old friend of mine... he took a sip out of wine... Haze Wood's you know him right autumn??
When my ear's heard his name, the blood drained from my face. My world crushed down under my eyes.I don't know how to describe the sound of a world crashing. Maybe there is no sound, just a great emptiness, an enveloping sorrow, a creeping nothingness that coils itself around you like a stiff wire.
