CHAPTER4

Melissa woke up to find herself in a strange room. The last thing she remembered was being

carried away by Alpha Moreno. Her face turned pale as she glanced around, her heart thumping

in her chest.

She got up from the bed, and tiptoed to the door, her hand on her chest. As soon as she opened

the door, she breathed a sigh of relief at the familiar sight before her.

It appears she's still in Brooklyn Park, the king's palace. Melissa shut the door and grabbed her

dress, raising it a little, so she could walk free. She shut the door and walked away, glancing

around now and then.

Unexpectedly, she bumped into Elena, who was also walking along the hallway.

'' My

goodness!'' Elena exclaimed and looked up at her with a deep frown.

''You? How dare you...

''

She raised her hand to slap her, but Melissa saw it coming and quickly held her hand up in the

air.

'' Don't ever think of raising your hands on me, Elena. We are not on the same level, anymore.

T ake a look at this.

'' Melissa said and pushed her hair aside, revealing the Mark on her neck.

Elena's jaws twitched, but when she remembered what Alpha Ryder said earlier, she folded her

arms and stared at Melissa with a mischievous grin.

'' And you think it's important?'' She asked

with furrowed brows.

'' I know you're jealous and angry, I'll advise you to give up already. Alpha Ryder and I were

meant to be together.

'' Melissa said, not batting an eye.

'' Give up, you say?'' her lip curved into a smile and she began to walk around Melissa, her eyes

running down her body.

'' Why should I, after seeing this beautiful design on your skin? Don't

you think it's fun to make you suffer like this?''

'' What are you talking about?'' Melissa creased her forehead, as she stared at Elena's face,

who stood right in front of her with a stern face.

'' Alpha Ryder and I are still together. It's my idea for him to reconcile with you, and I believe you

understand that I didn't do that without a reason. I'm glad my plan worked. I can imagine what

you went through this morning when we were having fun on his bed. Poor thing. Hahaha!'' Elena

laughed heartily, amused by Melissa's gullible nature.

Melissa narrowed her eyes, trying to get a grasp of what she was saying, but it was difficult to

understand. Suddenly, something slipped into her mind and she bulged out her eyes in surprise.

The mate bond. The pains she felt earlier, her skin…

'' Could it be that Elena is telling me the

true?'' she thought and glanced at her bruised arms.

'' Did Alpha Ryder do this purposely to hurt me?'' She asked herself, but no answer was coming

up.

With a deep sigh, she began to head to her room, still lost in thought. Melissa pushed the door

open and entered on arrival, fortunately for her, her roommate wasn't around. She strode to the

bed and sat down, her eyes fixed on the floor.

The door opened, and Alpha Moreno walked in, but Melissa didn't seem to notice his presence.

'' Melissa!'' His deep, alluring voice brought her mind back to reality, and swiftly, she turned her

gaze to the door. Her heart sank instantly as she set her eyes on him, and she sprang up from

the bed and shifted backward, while he walked fully into the room.

'' My Alpha,

'' She did a curtsey and continued with her head bowed,

Moreno stopped abruptly and tilted his head. With a narrowed gaze, he blurted out.

Alpha Moreno stopped in front of the chair and stared at it for a while. He turned swiftly in

Melissa's direction and began to walk towards her.

'' Is anything wrong, my Alpha? I can get you another one.

'' She stood up and began to walk

away, but he grabbed her arm swiftly, causing her to collide with his chest. Melissa's heart

skipped a beat as she felt the warmth of his chest seep into her skin. Her pulse quickened, and

her breath caught in her throat.

For a moment, they stared at each other, His gaze intense and piercing. His grip on her arm

tightened, drawing her closer.

"What's wrong?" he whispered, and Melissa's lips parted, but no

words came. She was lost in the depths of his eyes, her senses overwhelmed by his proximity.

''You're shaking. How long will you hold me?" He whispered with a low and husky voice, and

Melissa quickly let go of him and shifted away. Feeling embarrassed, she stared at the floor and

said with a hoarse voice, "I... I'm sorry. I didn't mean to.

''

'' Hmmm.'' Alpha Moreno grunted and began to walk towards her, causing her to look up at him

in fright.

'' I'll get you another chair,

'' she muttered and headed towards the door, but his next words

halted her.

'' You don't have to, I'll sit here.

'' Alpha Moreno sat down on the bed, hoping Melissa would do

the same, but to his disappointment, she sat down on the chair she'd offered him earlier.

'' What can I offer you?'' Asked Melissa, standing up again.

Moreno gulped down and bit his lower lip. Gazing right into her eyeballs, he muttered.

"It's you I want. So get your things, dress up, let me take you away.

Melissa's eyes fluttered open and she stared at him in awe.

confused at his words.

'' Excuse me?'' She blurted out,

Alpha Moreno provided a paper from his sleeve and stretched it out to her. Reluctantly, Melissa

took the paper from him and opened it slowly.

Her breath arched as she read the content. Not only was she sold to Alpha Moreno as a slave,

but to be his breeder.

A corner of her mouth lifted, as everything became clear to her.

With a deep sigh, he got up from where he sat and muttered between gritted teeth.

'' What do you know about pains?'' Melissa interrupted with a stern face, not moving an inch

from where she was, although she wanted to protect herself in case the demon seized him.

Alpha Moreno is known for his ruthlessness, a man without feelings and remorse. Ever since he

lost his parents in a deadly attack, he became a dark-hearted beast, feared by many.

He's known for inflicting pain and suffering on those around him, and due to this, Melissa didn't

expect him to care about what she was going through.

'' I know what you're trying to do, Alpha Moreno. But you can't trick me,

'' she said in her mind.

Alpha Moreno gulped down horribly, and his eyelids dropped. With a hoarse voice, he

responded,

'' I'm not going to force you to do this, Melissa. But I'll be here for two days, and I

hope that's enough time for you to think about it.

'' With that, he headed towards the door,

leaving her bewildered.

As soon as he grabbed the doorknob, Melissa blurted out, stopping him in his tracks.

'' Wait!''

Moreno stopped abruptly, and without looking back at her, he muttered with a tightened face.
