CHAPTER1

'' You belong to me now, Elena,

'' he growled, and the glass she held fell off her hands as her

heart skipped a beat, causing him to turn in her direction with reddened eyes.

A sob escaped her lips as she stared at him in awe. In her life, she never thought that things

would turn out this way.

'' What the hell are you doing there, Melissa?'' His thunderous voice brought her back to reality,

and she looked up at him with a teary face. But his eyes held no sympathy. He climbed off the

bed and began to walk towards her with fisted hands.

Her heart began to beat in her chest rapidly, and the thought of running away slipped into her

mind, but it was difficult for her to move.

Melissa, a beautiful omega who's disowned and thrown out of the house by her father after the

death of her mother, faces humiliation at the hands of the pack members, who belittle and scorn

her.

However, she found favor in the eyes of the Alpha's Aunt, Madam Trisha, who employed her as

a maid in the palace. Although it wasn't easy to cope, she tried to, believing that when she found

her mate, she would be happy again.

But unfortunately, it turned out that she's mated to none other than the ruthless Alpha, King

Ryder of Brooklyn Park. He never liked her and is bound to make life difficult for her.

'' Melissa! Is that you? Don't tell me you're spying on us?'' A voice spoke in the room, and

although she recognized it, she needed to be sure. Melissa raised her head in that direction,

and to her utmost surprise, it was her best friend, Elena, lying on the Alpha's bed, probably

naked.

Not only had she slept with her mate, she'd succeeded in taking him away from her. Her heart

ached at the thought of this, and she opened her mouth to speak, but it was difficult.

'' Ele...

''

'' Answer me!!'' Alpha Ryder yelled, causing her to yelp with a startle, her eyes drifting back to

him.

'' What brought you here? Didn't I make it clear the last time that I don't ever want to set my

eyes on you?''

Melissa nodded nervously, feeling a lump in her throat. Alpha Ryder shot her a deadly glare,

and she quickly gulped down and responded quickly, to avoid his wrath.

'' I... I came to see her,

'' she stuttered, pointing a finger at Elena, who was still seated on the

bed, staring at her with a deep frown on her face.

'' Excuse me?'' Elena blurted out and rose

from the bed.

'' You're joking, aren't you? Why did you come to see me? Do we have anything in

common?'' She added and folded her arms across her chest, staring at Melissa in disdain.

For years, Melissa had thought Elena was the best friend that existed in the world. But looking

at her right now, she knew better.

'' I can't believe you can be this cruel, Elena. How could you?''

T ears slid down her cheeks as the pain in her heart became unbearable.

But then, Elena felt no remorse. Rather, she's upset at her words. She raised her hand

immediately and gave her a slap that made her eyes darken.

'' How dare you call me names? Can't you see I am not of your level?'' Elena roared while

Melissa held the spot she stroked earlier.

'' Kneel and apologize! Apologize to me, now!'' Elena ordered, but Melissa wouldn't bulge. She

glanced at Alpha Ryder, who was behind her, with pleading eyes.

'' Do as she said. Apologize now!'' He ordered with a stern face, and although she was scared of

him, she couldn't bring herself to oblige to his demands.

'' I can't. Why should I, anyway? Are you not my mate? What are you doing with her?''

Alpha Ryder couldn't believe it.

''Not only is she disgusting, but she had the mind to disobey

'' Are you questioning my order?'' he asked, but she shook her head and shifted backward.

'' Kneel and apologize to her,

'' he repeated, and obediently, Melissa went on her knees, her

gaze fixed on him. She fought the tears that threatened to slip out from her eyes, but it was

difficult to conceal.

Letting it slide freely down her cheeks, she turned to Elena and said,

'' I'm sorry, Elena. Please

forgive me.

''

'' You're free to stand, my humble servant,

'' Elena said, grinning from ear to ear. At the same

time, Alpha Ryder squatted down beside her, but she looked down immediately to avoid his

blazing gaze.

'' Look at me,

'' he said and bit his lower lip, pulling up her chin with the tip of his finger, and

forcing her to look him in the eye.

'' You should know me well, Elena. I don't like repeating

myself. Let this be the last time I'll set my eyes on you, or else I won't hesitate to pluck off your

eyes, and I'm sure you know what that means?''

Blood drained out from her face instantly, as she stared at him with widened eyes.

'' I'm glad you do.

'' Alpha Ryder muttered and stood upright, his gaze not leaving her.

'' But why? Why do you hate me so much? I don't think I've ever wronged you. And even if I did,

please forgive me.

'' She blurted out with a teary face; her voice was more like a whisper. Even

though she knows Alpha Ryder doesn't like her, she still believes that if he gives them a chance,

they'll be a perfect match, just as the moon goddess has assigned it to be.

Alpha Ryder didn't buy her idea. He turned to her with reddened eyes and grabbed her neck as

his veins popped out.

'' Do you want to know why I hate you so much? Do you?'' He roared in anger, his voice deep

and resonating.

''Please, let go!" She pleaded, her body shaking profusely, but he refused to listen.

" Alpha

Ryder!" Melissa screamed when she felt herself being lifted in the air. It was so hard for her to

breathe, and no matter how she struggled to free herself, it was difficult.

'' Wow!'' Said Elena in excitement,

'' This is a nice show.

'' She smiled widely, and leaned against

the door, her eyes fixed on Alpha Ryder and Melissa.

'' Ryder! What do you think you're doing?'' They heard a voice and turned in the direction

immediately, only to see Madam Trisha staring at them with wide eyes.

Alpha Ryder quickly pushed Melissa against the wall, causing her to hit herself and fall. Her

hands swiftly moved to her neck, as she coughed loudly, trying to calm her nerves.

'' Melissa, are you alright?'' Asked Madam Trisha as she squatted down beside her and grabbed

her hand. Melissa glanced up at her with her puffy red eyes. She tried to respond, but the cough

wouldn't let her. At the same time, Madam Trisha looked in Elena's direction, but she gulped

down and looked away.

'' What just happened?'' Asked Trisha, turning to Alpha Ryder.

Slowly, Alpha Ryder leaned forward and whispered into his aunt's ears.

'' T ell her to stay away

'' You dare not do such a thing!'' Madam Trisha blurted out and stood upright, her eyes blazing

with fury as she stared at Alpha Ryder.

Ryder scoffed and said with a stern face.

'' Mark my words, Aunt. Don't say I didn't warn you.

''

He grabbed Elena by the arm and dragged her into the room, then shut the door, leaving Melissa with his aunt outside.
