Prologue (2/4) - World Refining Cauldron Appears!

680 Words
Up above, Godson gritted his teeth: an oath to the heavens using one's own Name as the stake was an oath that could rarely be broken... especially as a Named Immortal: beings such as them had incredible might, however were on the boundary between the mortals and true immortality! As such, to bet a part of their selves, their Name, was akin to wounding one's own soul! Yet, Grey had just done so as, and as a Named Immortal nonetheless! If one such being was able to create such an oath, it meant that his mind was already set and that he would do anything in his power to complete it! "You..." Godson's previous smile was nowhere to be seen. Even the other seven Immortals flying on their Immortal Treasures, their Flying Swords, all had sour expressions on their faces. "You do realize that what you just did is blasphemy! The True World Fragment you used to concoct that Pill belongs to the Heavenly Palace itself, you have no right to claim it as yours!" Fey, the woman standing on one of the twin blades, asked. As the woman spoke, in her eyes there may have been disgust as well as anger, but beneath those was also a paramount of fear. After all, Grey Beilord was mainly known for his ability in alchemy, but she knew that his battle prowess was just as great! If such a person were to go berserk... she felt a cold shiver running down her spine. However, Godson showed no emotion such as fear on his face. Instead, his expression was one of immense race! The old man nodded, his killing intent surging, "You... you have declined our request and even slapped us in the face! You are beyond redemption! These fellow Immortals all can testify that Third Guardian, Lord Grey, has gone mad!" He yelled, veins popping all over his forehead, "Everyone... kill that man and the Heavenly Palace will reward you! Us Guardians of the Heavenly Palace will see that your efforts will be rewarded!" Hearing those words, the hundreds of Immortals standing around all felt loud explosion going off in their minds. As soon as they refocused however, they couldn't help but see the tall, imposing figure of the wounded Named Immortal as a pile of heavenly treasures just as tall! Noticing the Revered Immortals' gazes, Grey's eyes widened in surprise: he would have never have thought that even Immortals such as them would fall so deep into their own greed they would be unable to see straight! He slapped his thighs and then roared with laughter! "BWAHAHAHAH!", Grey laughed, grabbing his sides. Then, he straightened up. When he did, the Revered Immortals immediately trembled and unconsciously stepped back! The feeling the gigantic man was giving them had awakened them from their delusions: to be greedy now would spell death! After all, this fight was far from over! Looking around, his gigantic body trembling from the excitement, Grey couldn't help but grin fiercely as he felt his blood rush through his veins. "You... you don't actually think I am going to go down without a fight, do you?" Suddenly, Grey's white, blank eyes lit up with an eerie white light! Overbearing pressure appeared, once again forcing everyone back a few steps. It was as if a mountain had just been slammed on their back! Some of the weaker Immortals spit out blood, another one even passed out instantly! "After all... I still haven't introduced you to my friends!", Grey grinned fiercely and waved his sleeve: behind him, nine flying swords made out of a material similar to glass appeared, each emanating incredible pressure... Each sword trembled as they all began to rotate on their axis and orbit around the four-meters-tall old man. "Say hello to my friend here, and bid farewell to your lives!" "Appear, World Refining Cauldron!" The man's robes fluttered as the nine swords arranged into a mysterious formation. Threads of golden light came out of the spinning blades and then connected, creating a gigantic golden seal in the air.
