“I heard the Cross family has assets in the tens of millions,” someone said. “They’re well known in Miami. Gideon, to think you actually have a connection with Damian—you're even starting a business with him!”
Gideon tried to act humble, but the smugness on his face was too loud to hide.
“We’re on the same level after all,” he said proudly. “We have a lot in common. The Cross family is wealthy, sure, but my family isn’t shabby either. I’m working with Damian because of his family’s influence in Miami.”
“Damn, Gideon, don’t forget us when you make it big.”
“Forget us? He already made it compared to us. Look at his family.”
“True. Our whole life’s work can’t compare to Gideon’s starting point.”
