As I closed the distance, the trailing scout spun and launched a pair of omnidirectional missiles. I angled the Dagger into a dive, slipping under the gaping hull of an interceptor-destroyer and tried to use it as a screen, even as I brought the Dagger’s quad-mounted pulse lasers around to serve as point defense. One of the missiles collided with the destroyer, but the other swept up and over before spinning around after me. I opened fire with the pulse lasers, struggling to get a clean shot through the drifting debris. And then I got the warning that I had four more missiles inbound.
