I pulled the trigger once and the devious killer convulsed with the impact and went limp, unconscious. I triggered the XMR again just to be sure.
“Alright, I’ve got him.” I told Katherine and Gloria. “But before we turn him in, I want one of you to take another look at his lab.”
I hauled the body back to the little building with the secret stairs and waited for Gloria to arrive, so she could have a look through the lab space. I let her take her time, but even after she finished it was clear she was just as confused by it all as I had been. Even so, we documented and recorded as much as we could about what was there. Once we were satisfied we’d copied as much as we could, we turned to the task of collecting our bounty.
