The Denial
Ethan's POV
Ethan woke up with a sense of purpose he hadn't felt in months.
Today. Today he was going to tell Maya everything. He wants a break up with Vanessa, he should have done it weeks ago, if he was honest with himself—and then he'd tell Maya how he felt. How he'd always felt.
The thought terrified him. But last night, hiding in the pantry with her, seeing her laugh during their ridiculous game of tag, hearing her ask if she was important to him... he couldn't keep lying to himself anymore.
He couldn't keep lying to Vanessa either.
Ethan grabbed his phone from the nightstand. Three missed calls from Vanessa and a string of texts:
