Chapter TwelveAfter conferring with the State's Attorney's office, Children's Services allowed Sandra to go home with Evelyn once she completed the necessary paperwork and sat through an informal interview. The two arrived at her apartment late in the evening, and Paul stopped by and stayed until Sandra got to sleep. She had a restless night, frequently waking up and crying herself back to sleep. Evelyn got up and sat with her whenever she awakened, so she also slept very little.
