Chapter FiveBenjamin Yanders lived two floors up from Paul's ground floor apartment. They had met shortly after Ben and his daughter moved in several months earlier after selling their house. Paul was a recent arrival himself, having moved to escape the ubiquitous presence of his late wife, whose essence seemed to permeate every crevice of his old apartment. Ben and his wife had just separated and when he found out that Paul was a lawyer, he asked whether he could recommend a divorce lawyer. Paul did and the two became good friends despite their age difference, Ben being twenty years Paul's senior.
