Chapter Thirty-EightFor the first hour after Diane's suicide, Beverly couldn't stop her hands from shaking. The fact that the suicide had taken place in her home was gruesome enough, but the knowledge that Diane had contemplated taking Beverly's life as well was devastating. She forced herself to call 911 from inside the house, but she escaped to the outside to wait for the police and ambulance to arrive, all the while pacing back and forth trying to settle her nerves.
