The moment Talon arrived at the event which was at the hotel with a few bodyguards behind him, he wasn't surprised to be instantly assaulted by waves of people desperate to breathe the same air as he did.
He dismissed his bodyguards to the sides, gritting his teeth as he outwardly smiled while counting down the time for when he could retire to one of the rooms he had ensured to book, prior to his coming.
"Ten minutes…ten minutes and I'm gone," Talon thought to himself as he patiently shook the hands of all the people introduced to him by Derb, Old Dan's son.
The moment the introductions were done before any more could be done, Talon signaled his bodyguards for cover and quietly left.
Glad to see August already waiting for him the moment he left the hall through the back entrance moving straight towards the already booked VIP rooms.
"The contract?" Talon asked too annoyed to bother with greetings, having had enough to last him the whole month.
"Old man Dan sent it…"
"...why do I sense a but somewhere there," Talon sighed as he continued walking forward closer to the room he was to rest in, having already noticed his assistant's unnecessarily slow pace, something he wouldn't usually do.
"He sent it but it's just that he sent it with his daughter. Apparently, she wants to have dinner with you," August went ahead to quickly say, in a way that showed that he held half his breath, completely unaware of what Talon's reaction was going to be.
Talon's steps didn't seize neither did he reduce his walking pace as he went ahead to respond with nothing more than a cold glint in his eyes.
"What's her name?"
"Nami…" August replied still wondering what his boss was up to when they finally got to the door of his room, one August quickly opened for Talon before signaling for the bodyguards to all disperse.
Yet to be sent off, August also followed Talon right into the room prepared to protect, help and console the poor girl the minute the need for it arose.
But they had only just entered when he watched a big welcoming smile spread across the Talon's face one that stunned August so much that he froze for a couple of seconds.
The smile on his face was way more than the one he prepared for business purposes. It was bigger grander and had a coziness that greatly surprised August who stared longer than he should have completely missed the first couple of words directed to him.
"August! Won't you introduce us," Talon slightly raised his voice chuckling a little as he did so, with a friendly smile on his face one that seemed to scare August the more.
"This is Old Dan's granddaughter Nami and of course, the CEO of PRG, Talon Brills," August introduced them as he stood behind Talon_ his eyes almost popping out their sockets as he watched the smile on Talon's face brightened even more as he began talking to her as they settled down to eat the food already prepared in front of them.
Talon was polite and great at keeping the conversation going. He was a great listener and he even took an active part in pouring wine into her cup the moment she was done with it.
By the end of the dinner session, August was sure that the young lady was already in love and his boss was well on his way there.
"To think I would get a chance to watch two of Cupid's live targets. For the first time today…I believe in love at first sight," August sighed in his heart as he continued to stand behind them making sure to pretend to be as invisible as he felt.
"It was a pleasure dining with you, Miss Nami," Talon thanked her with a smile as he lowered his head to lightly plant a kiss on the back of her hands watching her cheeks turn red as she blushed immensely at the gesture.
"My bodyguards with see you safely back to your room," Talon continued to speak as he ordered some of them to clean up while the rest followed her back.
"I hope…hope we'll be able to do this again," she lightly whispered as she stared at his face not even trying to hide the longing in her eyes.
"Of course. I hope you have a good night," Talon replied nodding his head and gently squeezing her hands before finally letting go.
The moment the door was closed even before Talon turned back around, August already opened his mouth to speak.
"I can always make room in your schedule for you to…"
"...and why would you do that?" Talon asked in an ice-cold tone, turning around to show a dark look of nonchalance and annoyance on his face. His friendly welcoming aura, turned into nothing more than a dream.
"I thought…don't you like her?" August asked and the silent response he got from Talon was enough for him to figure out how ridiculous Talon felt the question was.
"Do you know the worth of those shares to me? And how much time and money I've invested to be able to get that particular number of shares in Old Dan's Mega company. Do you really think I'll leave even a slight chance of his granddaughter losing her mind and ruining it?"
"I'll keep up appearances but my schedule is completely booked," Talon continued to speak.
August quickly nodded instantly understanding what was needed from him, as he made to leave the next second with Talon not making any moves to stop him.
The moment, the door of the room was closed and he was left alone, Talon immediately made his way to the bathroom, already taking off the suit he wore.
As he made his way there with the intention of taking a long hot bath before going ahead to take a look at the contract and the small monetary gift that was sure to come along with it, since Old Dan wouldn’t want to lose face.
Meanwhile, Deli strolled in through the corridor with shaky legs, rubbing her forehead gently in a bid to alleviate the dizzy wave that suddenly settled on her body.
“What’s wrong with me? Is it the alcohol?” Deli wondered with her face scrunched together, doing her best to move her legs as quickly as she could and find a good place to rest.
But the further she walked the heavier her legs became until she realized that any further and she would fall to the ground.
With a slightly panicked expression on her face, she raised her head and looked around, until her eyes landed on what seemed to be a room number and door right beside her.
‘I’ll just apologize and ask for help,"
The next second she knocked twice and waited. Knocked again and after not getting any response from within the room, she grabbed the door handle and tried opening it shocked to see it gently turn as she pulled the door open.
“Sorry…but I…” she began to speak in a loud tone only to look around with a dazed look in her eyes, doing her best to look around carefully only to come to the conclusion that the room was empty.
“I’ll stay until the owner comes back…” she muttered to herself unable to think of anything else or about how unsafe or weird it was to enter a hotel room that was left open and unattended to.
Still, she shut the door behind her and immediately made her way to the bed, but she had only made it halfway across the room when she heard the loud door of the bathroom being opened and closed.
Her gaze was instantly directed to the left, shocked with her mouth wide open to see a tall and handsome man standing there with an equally shocked expression on his face with nothing but a towel around his waist, as some minute drops of water slid down his sculpted chest.
“Who are you and what…”
“You’re too handsome to be human. You look good enough to…hic,” she hiccuped unable to finish what she was about to say, even as her eyes boldly roamed down the body of the half-naked man in front of her.
