CHAPTER THREE: ACCEPTANCE

Audrey smiled softly, “So what's the decision then?”

Sharon frowned a bit , “What do you think the Benson family are trying to do? Is it because our family is small and theirs is big? What sort of bullying do you think this is, they had always known that I liked girls, ain’t they ought to let the agreement go? Can’t Hudson Benson find himself a woman? I know for a fact that Hudson Benson has a woman that he loves, so just because he couldn’t get her he decided to turn us into a replacement? Is our family made just to fulfill their wishes? And even having the audacity to switch to you, is he trying to humiliate our family?”

‘Well Sis I am afraid that you have gravely misunderstood him’, Audrey chided secretly. Hudson really loves Paige, but that doesn’t make him stupid. What cannot be his, he never tries to force it. Paige is obviously the female lead in this book. She is soft in speech and action, really curvy and beautiful, graceful and sophisticated and really easy to fall in-love with. She loves someone else, unfortunately that person is a play boy who understands nothing of love and doesn’t even want to put an effort into understanding it. Paige had wanted to hold on to Hudson while also chasing her love interest Thomas; but just as they say nothing is ever absolutely right in the world, she felt her games were perfect, not knowing that Hudson had found out.

Hudson was born a giant, and he was equally very handsome with a really high IQ. When he was at school, he was the top student both in school, state and national level with an IQ of over 150. When he graduated, he got into the entertainment industry, relying on his super powerful performing talent and strong background, he won the best actor award for the America actors award at the golden age of 27. For the past first quarter of his life till this golden age, he had met countless men and women, there was no shortage of good-looking, beautiful and gorgeous women chasing after him both explicitly and in hints. However he never paid them any attention, not until he met Paige that he decided to go blinded in love. He gave himself towards making sure all her needs are met such as helping her get the right roles in movies, multiple magazine resources, advertising endorsement; even going as far as to divide his own endorsement for her to use.

Unfortunately, no matter what he did, all the obedience he showed to Paige, he never realized that Paige never loved him, she was just riding on his coat to get the attention of Thomas whom she actually loved. She even went as far as to cry and begged him not to say anymore when he tried confessing his feelings for her. Telling him that there was someone she already liked. And that caused Paige to run away to England chasing after Thomas after his family sent him to England.

According to the original book, the original owner rejected Alan Benson. Although Hudson had no feelings for the original owner, he still felt frustrated for the rejection from both Audrey and Paige. Due to a little depression, he got drunk and sought solace and contacted Paige. Paige knew that Hudson was getting married, she even encouraged him on the phone to get married and start his own family. Paige told him that she might never have a home of her own in this life, Hudson been unwilling to see his lover been sad, immediately promised that if Paige could agree to giving him a home, he promises that he wouldn’t marry Audrey, after some back and forth, Paige agreed to come back and marry Hudson.

Audrey felt that she was really the most miserable crossed over person. She just wants a quiet life, to have a family and live securely. Why did she have to come into such a miserable and foolish body?

“Sister, what do you want”, Sharon saw that she had not spoken and poked him.

Audrey turned to look at her, “what about our parents?”

Sharon pointed to the master bedroom, “They are there, discussing it”.

“I'll go and take a look”, Audrey stood up and walked over.

Behind the door, she could hear the parents’ conversation faintly. Audrey listened for a while as she heard her mother crying, “I blame you all, I told you that classmate of yours was not reliable but you didn’t believe me. Now it’s a debt of twenty million dollars. How do we pay it back, must we sell our daughter just for the mistake of her parents? Audrey already has someone she loves, she would definitely never agree to this. Must we break our daughter’s heart just for nothing?”

Letting out a sigh, Audrey's mother continued, “Either we ask them to lend us the money or we sort it out ourselves. Everyone can become relatives and friends, but never at my child’s expense. If father was still alive, we can still believe it. But he is already gone and I will not break my child’s heart over this”.

“Well” Audrey's father sighed, “I will think of a way, I will see if there is any other way”.

Audrey remembered this moment. Yeah in the book, the original owner’s parents were deep in debt. She sighed helplessly in her heart, what else can she do, marriage is undoubtedly the fastest and easiest way to gather the funds. Twenty million was not twenty hundred or twenty thousand, if they can’t gather the funds wouldn’t that make them the ultimate sitting ducks for bankruptcy and homelessness? Audrey thought about it and felt that she might as well just marry, she can ask Hudson to borrow the 20 million dollars to solve her family affairs.

The original owner may be blind, but she isn't. Hudson was rich through and through, except that he was muddleheaded for a while, there were no other shortcomings. Besides if she and Hudson gets married the original plot of the book gets destroyed and will become completely abolished. Then she can take this place as another real world and live well.

As Audrey thought of this, she raised her hand and knocked on the door.

She opened the door to the surprise of the father and mother. She looked at the shocked couple with complex emotions on her face, seeing the red eyes of the mother she smiled brightly, “I heard from Sharon about the situation, she says since she can’t get married they wish to marry me”.

Mother Miller got up hastily with an indignant look on her face as she stumbled lightly, “That girl only knows how to talk nonsense, don’t listen to her”.

“Really?” Audrey leaned against the door frame, “I was planning to say that I agree to the marriage. I was never in love with someone else, I am also comfortable getting married to this man”.

Mother Miller was shocked for a moment, even father miller couldn’t believe it and asked her, “what did you say”?

“I said since it’s a marriage arranged by grandpa, then the family and the man must be in good condition, I am sure he won’t lose out by being with me”.

Father Miller was really startled, “are you serious?” he asked with a slight tremor in his voice.

Audrey nodded, “I am already old enough to get married, so I might as well get married”.

The parents stared at her dumbfounded, not knowing what to say.

Audrey, still smiling, pushed off from the door frame, feeling the warm breeze, she casually said, “I will leave you both to talk while I go to the kitchen. I watched a recorded food variety show and learnt a few dishes a few days ago. I will go practice it, so I can show you my progress”, she closed the door as she said that.

Father and mother Miller looked at the closed door and then looked at each other, “did you hear what Audrey just said? I am afraid she knows that we are in trouble and decided to help us. That's why she made such a decision”.

Father Miller thought for a while, “But this child Audrey has never seemed to be a sensible person before”.

Mother Miller heard these words and nodded, “This is true. She has never faced hardship before, how could she take our predicament into consideration? Does this mean that she has really grown up? Then I really don’t have to be so worried about her?”

Father Miller sighed, “Who knows, let's just keep watch. If she is really willing then….”, father Miller sighed as he sat down helplessly and continued, “….then that’s it. Anyway Hudson Benson’s family situation is very good, it’s a good choice and I am sure that she would not suffer”.

Mother Miller didn’t speak, she just thought of something and felt sadness fill her heart, “How could it come to this!”, she said as she began to cry silently again.
