An Outing

Natalie’s Pov I could feel my heart beating as I was ready for a new life, it all still seemed like a dream, but as time goes on, I will certainly come to accept the reality of it. “Alright, so I will need you to sign this contract.” He said as he passed it over to me. I took it up and signed it, then I dropped the pen. “So, what is your biggest wish now? I will fulfil it for you.” He asked, curving up a slight smile. “Really? Can you really do it? I asked, excitedly as I held my hands together. “Yes.” This time around his smile was wide. “Okay then, I have always wanted to go to high school, but I missed it. Right now, I still have a chance to go to college and I really wish I could. If you will help me with that, I will be happy.” I grinned as I was overly excited. “What’s your name?” “I’m Natalie and you are?” “I am Douglas.” “Alright, you will go to the best college around here.” He assured, staring into my eyes. There was always a feeling I got whenever he looked into my eyes, but now wasn’t the time to decipher what it meant. When it was night, I found it hard to sleep, I was in another world and my life had changed overnight. I was happy that I wont have to worry about my foster mother or her boyfriend anymore. “Ahh… this is the best night ever!” I let out muffled screams as I used the pillow to cover my mouth. The next day, I woke up and met toast and hot coffee on my side table, with a note under it. I carefully removed the note and read it. “Good morning, I hope you had a nice night. I have gone to work and would be back in the afternoon. Before then, make sure you get dressed in that cloth beside you on the bed, we have somewhere to go to.” I didn’t notice the cloth on the bed all along, it was a cream shorts and a nice green top. It was a casual wear, so I guessed we weren’t going anywhere official or sort. ~ It was afternoon and I had taken my bath, eaten and was bored, since Douglas had not showed up, around the time I thought he would, so I started looking around the house. It had a swimming pool and when I was about going in, Douglas came in. I jumped up in shock, as I wasn’t expecting him that moment. “I see, you have been going around the house. So, how was your little tour?” He asked, with a smile. ~ Douglas’ Pov I woke up, feeling better as I was on my way to achieving what I have been waiting for, for a long time. I was going to meet with my lawyer after work, and update him on the progress I had made. “Sir, this is the sales reports from January till June, which you asked for. We had some glitches on our computer, so it took a while before we could retrieve it.” My secretary said, with cold sweats on his face. I could sense his fear and I was certain he was hoping that I wouldn’t lash out at him. “Oh. Alright, thanks. I will check it out.” I said as I continued signing some papers. I looked up and saw a look of surprise on his face. He was not expecting the way I reacted. “Looks like you have time on your hands.” I said, arching my eyebrows. “No sir, I’ll leave right now.” ~ After I was done with my work for the day, I called my lawyer and we met at a restaurant, where I ordered a drink for both of us. “So, you wanted to see me.” He spoke out after we exchanged pleasantries. “Yes, I wanted to tell you about the progress on finding a wife.” I said, with a smile. “Oh, nice. What about it?” He asked, adjusting his glasses. “I have finally found the person I love and wish to marry. She is gentle and simple, just like my parents want.” I said, keeping a straight face. “Oh really? That is nice. What is her educational qualification? And her background? There are other things that we need to confirm, before we can be rest assured that she is fit to be your wife.” He said, keeping a straight face. I had thought of this before, but I didn’t think much about it. I had finally found someone who fits in my parent’s description, but I wouldn’t allow her to go, just like that. I am going to make sure that I make her look better, for me to achieve this. “Alright, I understand. She has everything. All I need is to get married to her.” I said, confidently. “Alright, so you will need to submit the proof and everything needed to know about her.” He said as he packed up some papers and put them in his bag. “Yes, sure. I will let you know when we are ready.” “Alright then, congratulations, Douglas.” He reached out his hand out to me for a handshake. ~ I knew I was later than I had told Natalie I would come, but she had no choice, she was going to wait. I entered the compound and saw her staring at the swimming pool. She was really acting like a poor person and that irritated me, but I had to fake a smile. “I see you have been going around the house. So, how was your little tour?” I asked, with a smile. “It was nice. You really have a big and nice house.” She said, with a smile. “Thank you. Alright then, are you ready to go out with me?” I reached out my hand to her with a charming smile.
