Once they were clear of the kindergarten and any flapping ears, Franklin asked, ‘Did you get anything?’

Franklin pictured the woman he’d known for several years. Though he wasn’t intimately acquainted with Bel, it didn’t sit with him either, that she’d let her friend down without an explanation.
