CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE Georgie’s mind was an eagle picking at roadkill in between cars flashing past. Her thoughts circled and swooped, but didn’t quite lock on to any meat. Each time she came close, she was ricocheted back to the police station at Daylesford this afternoon. She’d let herself in, and found Maeve in the kitchen arranging fresh flowers in the vase that was part of a memorial to Irvy and Sam. Without a word, they’d fallen into a hug.
