My hands flew to where Xavier had grabbed my hair, holding his hands. I sent a shock of magic through him, making him let go. I dropped to the ground and looked back at Reyland. Mark was holding his wound to slow the bleeding, but I knew that wouldn’t be enough to save him. I just needed a moment to heal him enough to give him more time, but I knew Xavier wasn’t going to just let that happen.
I crawled to my feet, standing between Reyland and Xavier. “You will not touch my family.”
Xavier growled, and sent a black tendril directly at Mark and Reyland. I held up my hand and placed a barrier around the two of them, making the tendrils bounce off of them. He sent more and more tendrils at them, not stopping his barrage of attacks. I gritted my teeth, focusing on keeping the shield up
