ADIRA I washed my face over the bathroom sink, trying to wash away the fear I felt lingering beneath my skin. I thought I was stronger and could face my parents, but the idea of seeing them made me feel sick to the stomach. I didn’t want to see them interact, because it was clear they still loved each other after all of these years, and I knew deep down they never loved me as much as they loved each other.
