UNEXPECTED ANNOUNCEMENT
Scarlett's POV
I returned back to the town with a smile on my face. My meeting with Rush has given me hope that things will get better.
"And what is so amusing that it makes you smile like a goat?"
I heard the voice and looked up to see Laura looking at me with a smirk on her face. I had been so engrossed with my thoughts of Rush that I did not know when Laura entered the kitchen and besides, my face was looking downward so I did not see her when she entered and so, I had to raise my head to look at her.
"Nothing ma'am." I said averting my eyes and quickly comforted myself.
Laura had instructed me that I should always address her as ma'am whenever we meet and never should I ever look her straight in the eyes.
