I can’t stop sniffling as we sit by the poolside in the garden. Ever since we left the private clinic—through the car ride and now here at home—my heart has been heavy. The ultrasound only showed one child, and it’s been gnawing at me, like my nightmare has become reality. I’m glad I didn’t bring Ace along; he’d only be disappointed too. Speaking of him, where could he be? It’s been a while, and he’s still not back.
"It can't be just one... there should have been three," I muttered to myself, watching Marian and Jezza playfully splashing around in the pool right across from us. I can’t believe they’re bold enough to swim when they haven’t even brought a change of clothes.
"Stop crying. For all we know, they just went with their dad to find a bonsai banana tree," Ryan jokes
