I quickly moved closer to where she was sitting. "Come here." I grabbed her hand and tried to make her stand up. "Open your mouth!" I lifted her face and tried to look inside her mouth to find the ring.
"It's not there, hubby!" she said, annoyed, as she removed my hands from her cheeks. "What ring are you talking about?"
"I had a ring placed on your cake. It's . . . it's an engagement ring."
"Engagement ring?" She furrowed her brows while staring at me, but after a few seconds, she smiled and tried to hold back a laugh. "You're so old-fashioned, hubby! Why did you put it on the cake? You could have just given it to me. Now I ended up swallowing it!" She couldn't hold it in anymore and started laughing, which puzzled me. Why didn't she seem worried at all?
