Asher's sudden intervention caught me off guard. I had been struggling to breach Kaida's mental barriers, and just as I managed to gain a fragile foothold, he barreled into me with a force that left me breathless.
Half-transformed into his wolf form, teeth bared, and eyes blazing with intensity, Asher snarled at me to back off.
