"Kaida?" Meredith looked confused when she opened the door and saw me.
I smiled, relaxing my shoulders with a happy look. "Surprise!"
I left the Ragnar mansion in the evening, planning to get to Meredith's house around the time she usually got home. Caspian's driver had brought me, of course, with instructions to wait until I was ready to go back. I didn't want to make too much of a big deal about this special treatment. He was probably keeping an eye on me, thinking I might run off with his money if I was allowed to do whatever I wanted, especially since I'd been paid so much and hadn't done any work yet.
"Did you get fired?" Meredith asked carefully, looking me up and down at my new clothes. "You look different," she added.
