Chapter 36We flew into Phoenix where I rented a new Audi vehicle and headed straight for Mom’s apartment. She looked pretty good. She hadn’t gained any weight, but she wasn’t swollen up from alcohol, either. After spending most of the next day with her, I went downtown to take care of the first of my four goals. I looked up the real estate broker I’d been working with by phone and closed on a house for my mom, taking title to it in a trust my lawyer had drawn up. That way, Woodie couldn’t get his hooks on it. Then Joseph and I spent the next day buying new furniture and moving her into the house. It was a neat red brick with white trim.
