Just then, I heard my phone buzz with a notification. I quickly checked. It was the investigation report on what happened at the mining site.
"Victoria, I've got work to do," I told her. "Go home," I added and went up the staircase, leaving her astonished.
Some time back, I would tolerate all her tantrums and try to console her afterwards. This time, I walked out on her. Before I made a turn at the end of the staircase, I saw her still standing there, staring at my back as I walked away.
