It’s a little after noon when I decide to get going. “Stay one more night,” my mother says, but I reason that I’ll need tomorrow to recuperate after the long drive. I’m not sure what will happen Monday when I go into the office—part of me can’t wait to see Kevin again, if only for his devilish grin and wicked tongue, ever eager to please, but another part seems cut off from that, older now, maybe a little wiser, I don’t know. A voice inside that sounds an awful lot like Joey’s says I need to grow the hell up already and stop dicking around, and that means cut someone loose. But who? Kevin? Timothy? Myself?
