Steven's POV
"Steven, do you hear that crying?" My wolf's voice woke me up. The bright moonlight reminded me that the day had turned into night. My stomach felt painful; there was no food here, and it had been three days since I last ate. This was insane.
"Steven, Becca is outside. She's the one crying. She's coming this way!"
Sure enough, I heard the sound of the lock being opened. I immediately stood up and prepared to face Becca. I wanted to know what she was going to do to me because, according to the calculation, I still had to endure three more days here.
The door opened, and Becca's face appeared, illuminated by the moonlight. I don't know if it was the effect of the night or not, but her face looked swollen and puffy.
"Hey." Her voice was hoarse, and it was the first time I heard Becca speak to me so softly.
"What's wrong, Miss Becca? Have I made another mistake?"
"No, I want to get you out of here, Steven."
She approached me, forcing a smile on her face. Honestly, I was ready to change if this was part of her revenge for me hurting Andrew.
"I want you to forgive me, Steven!"
What Becca did surprised me; I didn't expect her to do this. She suddenly bowed and knelt at my feet. I didn't see it coming.
"What are you doing, Miss Becca?" I immediately pulled Becca's body up, but she insisted on maintaining her position as if worshiping me.
"Becca's wolf said something bad happened to her, and she thinks it's because she rejected you as her mate. If I were her, I'd support her to keep kneeling like this. At least, she needs to understand that life is not just about her."
Reign certainly saw this as entertainment; my wolf was looking forward to the moment when Becca could be under my control. One thing I have never done, even though I am not an omega.
"I beg you, forgive me. I want you to truly humble yourself and free me from all the mistakes I've made. I'll make you happy and spend tonight with you, Steven. Maybe we can be mates for just one night!"
Becca's words sounded increasingly irrational. I shook my head and knelt in front of her.
"Miss Becca, what are you saying? Calm down. If there's something bad connected to me, then tell me. Not like this."
Becca stood up and clenched her fists; she looked angry. I didn't know what she was thinking or what she wanted to say to me. From her expression, I could tell she was truly tormented and finding it difficult to reveal what was weighing on her.
"I'm sure I'm being punished by The Moon Goddess for being wicked and treating you badly."
"Then, what can I do now, Miss Becca?"
Becca stomped her foot, looking angry as she clawed at her beautiful fingers. "I don't even know what you should do! It's insane, you know, Andrew is cheating with another woman. I feel terrible!"
I didn't know whether to be happy or sad hearing Becca's complaints, but it wasn't surprising news. I had never seen Andrew cheating, but from his attitude and demeanor, it was evident that he wasn't a faithful person.
"I hope you can just ignore him, Steven. Lower your head and tell him you're tired and want to sleep because you'll rest tomorrow. This is your chance to ignore Becca. Besides, she already rejected you! It's not your concern anymore if she faces punishment or whatever happens to her. The Moon Goddess always delivers justice!"
If I were as ruthless as Reign, my wolf, I might have pushed Becca's body and shouted in her face. But I wouldn't do that. I didn't like responding with violence, except when she went too far like Andrew did a week ago. I didn't want to waste my strength and energy on trivial matters.
"I'm sorry to hear that, Miss Becca, about what happened. But I believe this has nothing to do with the rejection you did to me. Alpha Steven might not be the right man for you."
Becca's gaze immediately shot sharply at me as if I said something wrong. She shook her head and said, "Don't say that. I've been thinking all day, and it's all my fault. Steven and I are destined to be together. He's been so good to me; we've been together for years. Everything that happened is probably because of the mistakes I made."
Becca looked stunned. Her hand gripped her thigh; I was sure she was forcing herself to take the blame for everything that happened. It was truly unfortunate for her, but I wouldn't insist that it wasn't her fault.
Silence fell between us now, and I didn't respond to her previous statement. I was afraid of saying something wrong and causing more problems later.
"Go, forget me whining to you earlier. Once again, forgive me for rejecting you. I hope you understand we can't be together. My heart and love belong only to Andrew, not anyone else. I'm sure you'll find your new mate, whether it's an omega or another woman." Becca put on a flat expression, then turned her body and began to walk away. However, after a few steps, she stopped and looked back at me. "One thing you must remember, Steven, I know you have stronger powers than other omegas, but you must always remember who you are. You're still an omega; I hope you won't repeat your mistakes."
Becca left me and shifted into her wolf form. Although her words were hurtful and seemed to belittle me as an omega, I couldn't deny that Becca was the most physically perfect werewolf I had ever known. Even the fur of her wolf form was so beautiful.
Sometimes, I wondered why I had to fall in love with such an arrogant alpha female like her? She’s so cruel and I know I will never be with her.
