Calhoun continued to sniff the air, it was a little faint but it was still there. He followed the scent which led him to the restaurant’s parking lot. He looked towards a corner and saw a hooded figure running away.
He ran in that direction as fast as he could. Looking both ways, he saw no one. Calhoun sniffed the air but nothing. The scent had vanished. A growl escaped his throat due to frustration.
He went back to the parking lot and saw how the window of their private room could be seen from where he was standing. ‘They were here for a while… Why didn’t we notice it?!’ He ran his fingers through his hair as he blamed himself for not catching the person. “If he had noticed it earlier we could’ve stopped them from changing the book!”
