The atmosphere was cloudy, it had rained heavily the previous night. Rex was spotted at the balcony staring at every passerby like a watchdog tasked with the responsibility of safe-guarding a community. It has been five years since his parents passed on and he had recovered from the ordeal and had grown into a young man.
Two years ago, Rex left his community in Chicago in search of greener pastures and and to avoid the bullies that lived around the city.Rex now live in mini city in new york where he joined a group of people who rob banks, eateries, restaurants etc. This time, they were planning to pull off one of the greatest, if not the greatest robbery in the history of bank robbery.
"Morning," Rex greeted a middle-aged man.
"Morning folk," he replied continuing his morning workout.
Rex was not living there by coincidence, he was on a mission, he was tasked to watch closely the middle-aged man whose name is Drey. He is a highly trained security personnel in Sterling Crystal bank which they planned on robbing.
Rex went inside, has a quick bath, he dressed in a blue shirt alongside his black short and he looked handsome as ever. He hopped in a car and zoomed off almost immediately. He was like a clown in that city, he could barely be identified with anyone. He was heading to his usual spot( a restaurant) where he grabbed a cup of coffee before joining his group for an organised meeting.
The group consisted of Anabella but popularly called" The boss", the charismatic leader with a knack for meticulous planning, Laucey, a tech genius who could hack any system, Jack, a master of disguise and forgery, Charles, an acrobat skilled in evasion tactics; and Rex, the safe cracking expert. Together, they formed a team calable of pulling off the impossible. Anabella earned this name because of her confidence and most importantly she is wanted by both the American and British police force, trying all means to get her, all to no avail.
"Grab a seat," Anabella said.
They all sat down in anticipation of what the plan was, especially Rex who was the youngest and a bit new in the crew.
"We have a problem guys(pulling out what looked like a map), upon close research, I found out that they have cctv in every region of the building and whenever any unauthorized movement is detected, a signal is sent and the entire savings block is filled with water immediately This has been successful in previous operation, when they are caught, they are sentenced to years imprisonment"
Annabella continued." In summary, we have three problems, what send the signals? How to bypass the camera and how to prevent the signal"
"This is like finding a solution to a problem you don't even know" a member of the crew said,
"Exactly" Rex said in affirmation. At this point, it looked like the operation was rather impossible. All the solutions proferred had one disadvantage or the other.
Anabella dismissed the meeting giving everyone a time frame to brainstorm about a possible solution. While Rex was about leaving, he was stopped by a member of the crew whose name was Laucey, a slender, tall, fair complexioned lady who found Rex attractive. Her reasons were because he was reserved, extremely smart and handsome to state the least. She proposed if they could go to a club and party throughout the night. Rex agreed and they hit the road.
Rex, who wasn't used to taking of alcohol, he was trained by his mother to resist from alcohol although his father was an addict. Laucey convinced him to have a sip, from a sip to a glass and from glass to bottles.
Rex spotted a waiter cooling drinks with sodium gas within seconds, this caught his attention and walked up to him,
" What you doing bro" Rex asked
*Cooling the drinks, easy right? The waiter answered
"Can I get some?", Rex asked
"That depends, if you can pay for it"
Rex called the attention of Laucey who was watching front afar, she thought Rex went to get a drink, "How much do you have on you?" Rex asked Laucey
"Barely thirty dollars" Laucey answered
"Borrow me, I would repay you as soon as I can"
Laucey paid for the sodium gas and handed it over to Rex with a beaming smile on her face.
"Thank you" Rex said in appreciation.
Rex left the party immediately without Laucey's knowledge grabbed a scale with the aim of trying an experiment with the gas. He found out in his previous research that a scale detects any unauthorized movement and creates a pathway for water flow.
The following day, Rex called for an emergency meeting and told them that he discovered a way to trick the scale. He got brick, placed it on a scale and showed them the reading, he repeated this action after spraying the sodium gas on the scale and there was no reading on the scale.
"You tricked the scale" Annabella said in amazement
"Yeah" Rex replied
"And you think this would work in the vault" Anabella asked with an expression of enthusiasm on her face,
"A bigger vault, requires a larger amount of sodium gas..Yes, it should work" Rex was the centre of attraction at this point, he was feeling on top of the world, at least I made a remarkable contribution" he thought
" I guess this is the first stage, at least we know our problem" Annabella said
"How then do we bypass the cameras" A more difficult task........
