CLAIRE Tuesday morning, Julian was already awake when my alarm went off, he sat on the edge of the bed, his head in his hands. "Did you sleep at all?" I asked. "A few hours," he said. I got up and wrapped my arms around him from behind. "Today is going to be the hardest day yet," I said quietly. "I know," Julian replied. "They're showing the video." "You don't have to watch it again," I said. "You could step out when they play it." Julian shook his head. "I need to be there," he said. "If I leave, it looks like I can't handle it."
