Chapter 4
Jana stepped into the cramped safehouse, the door creaking shut behind her. The air was thick with tension, the rebels huddled around Elian Vex, their eyes narrowed in suspicion. Lena stood by the window, her gaze fixed on the street below.
Kael sat with Mia, his arm around her shoulders, his eyes locked on Jana's. "What's the plan?" he asked, his voice low.
Jana nodded, dropping her bag onto the floor. "We need to get Elian's statement. We need to know what he's willing to reveal about the regime."
Lena turned, her expression grim. "We've got the tech team prepping the equipment. But we need to be careful. The Chancellor's got eyes everywhere."
Elian Vex looked up, his eyes darting between Jana and Kael. "What...what do you want from me?"
Jana's smile was cold. "We want the truth. We want to know about the experiments, about the compliance tech. About your father's plans."
Elian's face paled, his eyes darting to Kael, then back to Jana. "I...I don't know what you're talking about."
Kael's expression hardened. "Don't play dumb, Elian. You knew about the experiments. You knew about Elian."
Elian's eyes widened, his gaze snapping to Kael. "How...how do you know about Elian?"
Kael's jaw clenched. "Elian was my brother. The experiments drove him mad. He died."
The room fell silent, the only sound the soft hum of the equipment. Elian's eyes dropped, his shoulders sagging.
"I...I didn't know," he whispered. "I didn't know it would happen like that."
Jana's voice was cold. "What did you think would happen, Elian? Did you think your father's regime would just magically fix everything?"
Elian's eyes snapped up, a spark of defiance in them. "My father's regime is the only thing keeping this city from falling apart! The experiments, the compliance tech...it's all necessary. It's all to keep the people safe."
Jana laughed, a cold, mirthless sound. "Safe? You call this safe?"
The room erupted into chaos, the rebels shouting, their anger and frustration boiling over. Kael grabbed Mia, pulling her close as she began to cry.
Lena stepped forward, her voice raised above the din. "Enough! We need to get Elian's statement. We need to know what he's willing to reveal."
The room slowly fell silent, the rebels' eyes fixed on Elian. Jana nodded, her gaze locked on his. "Let's begin."
The interrogation was intense, Elian Vex's fear and reluctance palpable. But Jana was relentless, pushing him for every detail. The hours ticked by, the sun rising higher in the sky.
As they finally finished, Jana stepped outside, the cool air a welcome respite. Kael joined her, his eyes tired.
"What now?" he asked, his voice low.
Jana's gaze was fixed on the city. "Now we plan. We take down the regime, and we make sure they never come back."
Kael nodded, a small smile on his face. "Sounds like a plan."
The city stirred, the rebels ready to take on the regime. The game was on, and Jana was ready to play.
But as they stood there, the sun rising over New Eden, Jana couldn't shake the feeling that they were walking into a trap. The Chancellor was too smart, too ruthless. He would stop at nothing to keep his regime in power.
And Jana knew that she and her rebels were just pawns in a much larger game.
The game was on, and Jana was ready to play.
But would she survive?
As Jana and Kael stood there, the city began to stir. The rebels were moving, taking positions, preparing for the final push. The Chancellor's regime was crumbling, and Jana was ready to be the one to bring it down.
But the Chancellor had one last trick up his sleeve. He had been planning this for years, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
And that moment was now.
The regime's forces began to mobilize, moving to crush the rebels once and for all. Jana and Kael knew they had to act fast, or risk being caught in the crossfire.
They moved quickly, rallying the rebels, preparing for the battle ahead. The city was on the brink of chaos, and Jana was ready to lead the charge.
But as they prepared to face the regime's forces, Jana couldn't shake the feeling that they were walking into a trap. The Chancellor was too smart, too ruthless. He would stop at nothing to keep his regime in power.
And Jana knew that she and her rebels were just pawns in a much larger game.
The battle was about to begin, and Jana was ready to fight.
