Jo and Robert stood together at the hall table holding the sherry, whiskey, and ginger ale. The rest of the family, friends and neighbors sat with Ralph in the parlor. The collation—tea, sandwiches and plain cakes provided by Lizzie, David, and Meg—was laid out on a table in the parlor.
Jo looked at the framed photos hanging over the table, pointing. “There’s us! It’s a funny photo with all the girls and their oars, isn’t it? Holly’s wonderful. Is this you as a baby?”
