"Alpha?" I said it again, slower this time, like saying it carefully might make someone answer me. "What does that mean? Why are you calling him that?"
Clementina's mouth opened, her eyes dropping and I thought she might actually tell me.
“He—he–" She stammered, her voice low and scared. She was increasing my own fear by the second and filling my head with every possible negative thought I could come up with.
"Get her away from me." Christian ordered, his forehead glistening with sweat, his chest still heaving and his eyes glowing a deep crimson, burning like live embers. I took a few steps away from him, wide-eyed, frightened and confused. This was bizarre and whatever pain he was going through was worsening by the second.
