This is a prequel to the series of thrillers I am writing that are set in the present day and feature Joe Johnson, a US-based independent war crimes investigator.
The Afghan, however, is set back in 1988, when Johnson worked for the CIA in Pakistan and Afghanistan. He later also worked for the Office of Special Investigations — a section of the Department of Justice responsible for tracking down Nazi war criminals hiding in the United States.
