It's around 3:00 and I am starving. We have gone from store to store to store, and now all I want is food. It takes a little convincing to get Haley to agree but we're at the town's diner. I ordered greasy chicken strips and fresh fries with a strawberry lemonade while Haley ordered the soup of the day. We're in a booth waiting for our food to arrive. Haley is on her phone texting someone, no doubt about the wedding, while I'm just happy to be sitting down. Haley has short brown hair with small brown eyes. She's staring so hard at the phone it looks as though her eyes are closed. She's wearing a brown oversized sweater with light blue skinny jeans and brown boots. While I have curves, Haley is petite and the size of a twig. She could be the perfect model whereas she is tall and thin, I'm short and curvy. The waiter walks by and hands us our food, and let me tell you it looks and smells delicious.
When most of our food is gone, Haley starts talking about where we're going to go next. To get a wedding dress. As she's talking my phone beeps with a message. Wondering who it's from I look to see Jake said something. 'So sorry I couldn't make it babe, I just have a ton of important things to take care of. Besides you and Haley will have a great time without me.' I reread it not knowing what to say. Leaving it be, Haley and I head to the dress shop. I've always just wanted a simple cute white dress. Nothing more. No pearls, no fluff, no sequence, no lace, no nothing. Just a plain elegant dress.
When I've tried on most of the store, Haley starts going through saying which ones were the best. I decide this is a good time to answer Jake since she is distracted. 'It's OK, I know you are busy. I'm at the store right now getting a wedding dress. And you can't see it until the day anyway. Love you' I reply real fast.
"Ok these were by far the cutest and they looked great on you. What do you think ?" Haley walks in asking. I look at all five of the dresses. The first one is a mermaid gown with a sequence on the bottom and top. No. The second is a ball gown with a low front and no back. It has fluff in the bottom making it wide and hard to walk in. No. The third is a V dress with mesh sleeves and the front very low down. No. The fourth leaves nothing to the imagination. It has no back and it barely holds my chest leaving most of it exposed. No. The fifth is simple. It has little spaghetti straps and a low back. Perfect.
"That one," I point, "That one is perfect," I say as I admire the gown.
"That one? Oh? What about this one? It has so much more detail and design?" Haley retorts picking up the second gown.
"No, I want this one," I say as I pick it up and walk to the lady helping us. "How much is this one?" I ask her.
"For you, it is free. I'm just glad that our new Luna will be wearing one of my designs." She replies. She takes the dress and puts it in a bag made just for it and hands it to me. "For you my dear, may you forever be happy and bring peace to the pack." She tells me.
"Thank you. Thank you so much!" I say to her as we walk out. I carefully put the dress in the back of my car making sure nothing will wrinkle. Haley and I say our goodbyes and I start driving through town to get back home.
I stop at the diner to bring food back for my parents when my phone beeps. Sitting in my car I see a message from Jake saying, 'Pick out a dress you don't care for much. Can't wait to see that body of yours in it, and can't wait to just to rip it off." I read the message trying not to cry. I know he loves me for me and not just for my body. It just makes me think if I truly love him and want to spend forever with him; it doesn't matter anyway though. I can't say no to him; he's the alpha. The only way I could leave him is if I find my true mate, but the chance of that is slim to nothing, so instead I wipe my eyes and put on my best smile and head inside.
