Too Much

Brian’s POV: I was incapable of rational thought. All I knew was my hunger and my desperate need to possess her.  I thought I might be able to stave off the beast within me, but as soon as she buried her teeth in my skin, it ripped what little control I still had left away. In an instant I got a flash of what could be. I pictured red glowing eyes looking up at me from her angelic face. The feel of her sharp fangs piercing my flesh as she held me to her with inhuman strength. So lost was I in my vision, that I forgot about the present. The woman bearing down on my neck as she writhed against me was only human. Mortal & fragile. But in my vision, she was an equal, a fellow vampire whose body didn’t have to breathe, who knew nothing of fatigue and the only hunger that afflicted her was the hunger of our bodies for one another and the burning thirst. Who could not only take pleasure in my bite but impart the same pleasure as she pierced my flesh. I didn’t feel her release her hold on my neck as I buried my fangs deeper into her throat. I scarcely heard her cries of ecstasy as I thrust myself deep inside of her and drank deeply from her pretty throat. I continued to drink as I ground my fangs even deeper into her flesh, tearing muscle in my search for more of her blood. My movements became erratic as I could no longer keep up a steady rhythm with my hips, all I could feel was her walls clench tightly around me as I picked up speed and drove myself even deeper with in her. Just as she climaxed, it triggered my own. I ripped my fangs from her throat as I gave one last powerful thrust deep inside her s*x as she gripped me tightly. I rested my head on her shoulder as I moaned my pleasure against her skin as my body trembled and came completely undone. That’s when everything went horribly wrong. As I withdrew myself from her and looked upon her face, I could immediately tell that something was wrong. Her color was wan, her breathing was rapid and shallow, and her skin was cool to the touch. I looked down at the wound I had made on her neck and there seemed to only be trickle of blood oozing from the wound. I hurriedly licked the wound and watched as they slowly closed. I gently laid her back on the chaise and then ran my fingers through my hair as I allowed myself a moment of panic. I took a deep breath and lowered my hands. “Ok, she’s not dead yet. If I can replace some of her blood and get some fluids in her, she should be ok. I just have to figure out the best way to do that,” I say to the empty room as I rush over to my desk and open up drawers looking for a specific set of keys. “I can’t feed her my blood right now, there’s too much of a chance that it’ll turn her, and I won’t do that. Even if it doesn’t, I don’t want her to end up like Darci,” I growl in frustration as I rip each drawer out of the desk and dump the contents on top of the desk. Still unable to find the key that I was looking for I hurled the now empty drawer against the wall with enough force to have it explode in a spray of splinters. I bared my fangs as I dug through the various brick a brack littering the desktop looking for the key. After what felt like a lifetime, I finally happened to glance at the floor and saw where the key had fallen. I quickly scooped it up and ran over to the back of my office where I kept a small bar. I knelt down to look at the shelf before I swept my arm across it, sending several bottles of liquor crashing to the floor and exposing a panel with a lock that fit the key I had in my grasp. I jammed the key into the lock and gave it a sharp turn, hearing the lock click and opening the panel. I reached inside of the chilled panel and pulled out two bags of type O negative blood, leaving two additional bags still in the cooler. I hurriedly closed the panel and went back to the small table next to the chaise and ripped open the top drawer. I dug inside the open drawer as it hung open and grasped the packaged IV kit, tourniquet, and a bag of saline inside. I placed the unopened IV kit and the bag of saline, on Rachel’s stomach as I worked quickly wrapped the tourniquet over her upper left arm and pulled it tight. I waited about a minute but unfortunately her vein didn’t come to the surface enough for me to be able to safely get the IV into her vein and I didn’t want to risk losing any more blood. I cursed under my breath as I pulled the tourniquet tighter still and gently tapped on the inside of her elbow, hoping to draw out the vein. After an agonizing few moments, the vein finally started to appear. “Thank the gods,” I whispered as I grabbed the bag of saline and broke the lamp shade of the lamp on the table next to the chaise so that I could turn it into an impromptu IV stand. It wasn’t as elevated as it should be, but it was better than nothing. Not needing to worry about Rachel seeing me, I moved with inhuman speed as I uncoiled the IV line and flushed it with saline. After I made sure that there were no air bubbles in the IV line, I attached the tube to the drip chamber and watched the saline flow down into the tube. As the tube began to fill with saline, I flipped through the available needles & catheters until I found a 16 gauge. This should be able to get the saline and the blood inside of her quickly. I just had to move fast. As I moved over to Rachel’s left arm, I inspected the catheter to ensure that it was functioning and intact. Everything appeared in order, the flashback chamber on the catheter was tight and I was able to spin the hub without any problems. As I reached Rachel’s arm, I removed the protective cap on the needle and with the aid of my heightened senses, I was able to gently slide the needle into her vein on the first try. When I saw the flashback of her blood flow into the hub, I finally allowed myself to release the breath that I didn’t realize I had been holding. Carefully I withdrew the needle, leaving the catheter inserted in her vein as I grabbed a small roll of medical tape that was inside of the IV kit. I quickly taped down the tube and then released the tourniquet on Rachel’s arm. Once the IV line was in place, I broke a second spoke from the lamp shade so I could hang one of the blood bags on it and connect it to the IV line as well. As the life-giving fluids flowed down the tube and into Rachel’s body, I continued to watch her, hoping for some sign that I was able to bring her back from the brink. After about half of the blood bag was empty, I could finally start to see some signs of improvement. Her color was better, and her breathing had evened out. I could hear the rhythm of her heart improving and becoming stronger as the moments ticked by. By the time that she had finished the first bag of blood and was nearly finished with the second, Rachel finally began to stir on the chaise. I knelt beside her and gently stroked her hair from her clammy forehead as her eyes began to flutter open. “Hush now,” I said quietly to her, “it’ll all be alright.” I continue to stroke her hair as I reach for the cigarette lighter, I had left near the base of the lamp. “Just look into my eyes,” I say as I flick the lighter on, allowing Rachel to see my face. As soon as her eyes found mine, I used my powers to grasp hold of her mind once again. Only this time, instead of reading her thoughts, I imposed my will over hers. She lay there transfixed and unblinking, like a cobra being charmed. “We had a few more rounds of amazing s*x, but you passed out again. You realized it was because you hadn’t had much to eat, and you were partially dehydrated. We had a pleasant meal here in the office as we got to know each other a little better. As we talked you fell asleep on the chaise and I took you home. When you awake in the morning, you will know all of this to be true. Until then, you will sleep and not be awakened until your alarm goes off in the morning,” I intoned each command as I imprinted them in her mind. The commands were accompanied by images and fabricated memories to further cement them into place. As the last of my words drifted away, I released the lever on the lighter and once again plunged the room into darkness. Once the lighter was extinguished, Rachel’s eyelids closed, and her breathing became slow and deep and she was pulled father into unconsciousness. Once the IV bags were empty, I disconnected them and unhooked the line before withdrawing the catheter. After I delicately withdrew the catheter from her arm, I ran my tongue over the small rivulet of blood coming from the inside of her elbow to stem the flow of blood and erase the puncture wound caused by the needle. The blood still tasted of the plastic from the bag mixed with the added salt from the saline solution. But I knew between the two bags of blood and the bag of saline, Rachel was out danger from blood loss. Her body would replenish the lost fluids while she slept and as long as I made sure she had a large bottle of water and something for her blood sugar when she woke up, she would be right as rain. Now I just had to get her dressed, get her out of the club, and tucked into her bed without anyone seeing us. Not to mention resigning myself to never allowing this to happen again. Even as she’s laying there unconscious, I can feel the first stirrings of thirst in the back of my throat and the first stirrings of lust in my groin. No, if I care for her even a little, this can never be allowed to happen again.
