SHINING EYES (Chapter 2)

627 Words
I woke up the next day feeling exhausted from the lack of sleep I got. I have got to go to medical college, so I got up and did my morning routine. I then put together an outfit, ran to my kitchen to get breakfast, which was a slice of bread. I quickly snatched my backpack from my coat hanger and left my apartment. As soon as I closed the door, someone tapped me on my shoulder. I turned around just with a sense of panic to realize that it was my neighbor. “Good morning neighbor !” he greeted me while pushing his blonde hair back. “Good morning. “ I greeted him back as i glared at him. “Why the gloomy face?” He said with a smile . “Oh I don’t know, maybe it's the fact that it is six in the morning and that the only thing I had this morning was a slice of old stale bread ! ” I said with a very fake smile. I wonder where he gets all that energy from? He started to laugh and I couldn’t help but realize how his blue eyes shone when he did so. I looked away and started to dig through my bag to find my house keys. I finally found my keys . They were at the bottom of my bag like always . I locked my house and made sure that it was properly locked. “Anyways, I gotta go. I have a bus to catch and you have to go too. I don’t think your father’s going to be happy if you are late for your work interview.” I said while walking away from him. “Oh. Yeah about that, I am not doing it.” He said while giving me a guilty laugh. I turned around to take a look at him. I was baffled. “I know what you think, your face says it all. But i don’t need to work . My father is rich and he told me not to worry about it. “ He proceeded to walk closer towards me and smiled. “ And I think you should worry about yourself first “. He then gently touched my face. “ It looks like you haven’t been sleeping recently.” He brushed my cheeks with his fingers as he gave me that mischievous smirk. Embarrassment crept up my face and I quickly pulled his hand away. “I- I gotta go.” I stuttered as I felt the heat near my cheeks. “Ok then. Don’t catch a cold ! Its really cold outside, ya know. See ya!” “You too” I said, without looking at him. As soon as I left my apartment complex , the cold wind of winter struck my face and penetrated through my clothes. Snow blanketed the treetops and houses .The sunlight shone on it, creating a sort of radiance. I couldn’t help but admire the view I was seeing. I pulled my cardigan closer towards me and i continued to walk. I finally reached my bus stop, shivering because of the cold. Snow had found a way to enter my boots, leaving my feet numb. I sat down on the bench and let out a sigh. It’s exhausting, walking three kilometers in such a cold temperature. I took out one of my textbooks and started to read it while waiting for my bus. My bus was half an hour late. When my bus finally came, I had already finished revising one lesson. I almost screamed with happiness when I got on the bus. I sat on a window seat and stared outside through the window. Then the bus started to move.
