26 Carolyn Brighton Diary: Entry 1—2015 The_Well:My time is coming. I don’t know when, but I can feel it like weather looming on the horizon. It’s comforting. Part of me worried I’d be afraid when my time finally came, but I’m not scared. Because I’m here. I’m home. I’m glad I made the decision to come back. I wasn’t able to fix this old house the way I wanted to, but it’s still standing after all these years. They say your childhood home seems smaller to you as an adult. But smaller isn’t quite right. I’d say more intimate. This house knows all my secrets. This is where I grew up, where I laughed and cried and screamed and dreamed.
