I was confused. Piper wasn't coming with us? Why not? Don't get me wrong, I wanted her to stay right where she was, she'd be much safer here. There was a guy out to get her that liked to take limbs from people. It was dangerous for her to go anywhere. That didn't stop me from feeling unsettled about it though.
"Is everything ok?" I asked her. I noticed again how tired she looked. "I would have thought you wanted to be in on the action." I laughed and tried to make light of it.
Water pooled in her beautiful eyes and I instantly felt like crap because I had upset her. I never wanted to be the reason that she cried, but it seemed I was damn good at reducing her to tears!
