Burnt Skies

Chapter 13

When we get to Sanchez hospital I get out of the car and run into the hospital with Brody close on my tail, I get to the counter where the lady is and ask where my mom and brother are, she asks my last name and I tell her that it is Koby and so is my moms, i continue on saying that my brothers name is Ash, after that she gave me a key and told me its room 109, I tell her thank you and run down the hallways, sadly Brody couldn't come because only family could visit.

When I got in the room I saw my mom and my brother, they were both on beds, they had air tubes to help them breath, and when the nurse walked in she told me they both had concussions and haven't woke up yet.

I touch my moms hand, it's almost as cold as ice, shes so pale and looks sickly, I walk over to Ash, he's the same way as mom, all cold and pale, they both had scars and I saw their x rays that they had done, they both had many broken bones.

I went to go sit down in the chair when I heard a loud beeping sound, the doctors and the nurses rushed through and start pushing me out of the room.

"NOOOOO!" I'm yelling but they aren't listening, as soon as I know it I'm out in the hallway screaming and breaking out into tears.

A nurse walks by and stands me up taking me into the waiting room where I see Brody waiting, he runs up to me.

"What happened?" he asked with worry in his eyes.

"t-t-their hearts s-s-stopped beating and as soon as I knew it they pushed me out of the r-r-room" I stutter trying not to cry more than i already am.

"Oh I'm really sorry Carmen" he says in a sad voice

We make our way over and sit down on a couch in the waiting room, I lay my head on Brody's shoulder and try to calm myself down, I start to get really sleepy and my eyelids slowly close.

~Brody's POV~

I saw her getting sleepy on my shoulder and I smiled to myself, I really feel sorry for her, I mean her dad is barely ever home and her mom and brother just got in a crash, she won't take this easy I can tell, and I don't blame her I wouldn't be able to take it easy either.

Carmen starts to move and her eye lids slowly open, I could tell she was crying in her sleep cause there were dry tears on her face.

"You ok?" I whisper

She slowly turned her head to look at me and said a slow and unsure yes.

She nuzzled back into my neck and almost fell asleep until a nurse called for her, she told Carmen that she could go see her mom and brother again.

I watched as she got up walking away from me, but before she totally left she slowly waved goodbye.

~Carmen's POV~

I heard a nurse call my name and she told me I could go see my mom and brother again, as she said that I walked towards her and slowly waved to Brody while I walked off.

As I was walking through the hall to room 109 I was hoping that my mom and Ash's machine wouldn't start beeping again.

Getting in the room I see that they were still out cold but at least their hearts were still beating and they were still trying to hang on.

I sat down in the chair and started sobbing, I wanted my mom and Ash back to normal being their fun loving selves, I wanted them to finally meet Brody, I wanted a lot of things, they couldn't leave me now.

I must have sat there for an hour sobbing, I still would have been if Brody hadn't of walked in.

"You ok Carmen?" He softly asks

"Yeah Brody, I'm ok" I sniffle

He came over and stood me up, he sat down in the chair then I sat on his lap and nuzzled into his neck still crying my eyes out, I hated for Brody to see me like this.

I must have fell asleep cause when I woke up I was in a dark room and a really soft bed, I felt something warm next to me, I turned around and noticed it was Brody, when I saw that I snuggled closer to him and I could see the smile appear on his face.

I went to bed with so much more than I wanted on my mind that night.
