Chapter 4Ethan sipped on his coffee. He’d stolen Carl’s seat and was chatting with Sandra. They were good people. Calm, down-to-earth people, and Ethan was glad they were in Hazel’s life. He’d always feared the lack of a mother figure would mess Hazel up somehow. It hadn’t, and she’d had Lisa. “It’s nice to finally meet Gael.” Sandra nodded toward Gael who was conferring with his date. Had he been introduced? He didn’t think so. “Did he bring his son?” Ethan spluttered, then coughed. “Sorry, sorry.” A laugh bubbled out of him at the same time as an arm slid over his shoulders followed by Hazel squeezing herself onto his lap.
