Chapter 6Ethan danced and laughed and ate more cake since there still was a lot left. He had a few drinks but mostly stuck to non-alcoholic options.
When it was time for Hazel and David to leave, everyone hugged and cried and laughed and cheered. It had been a great day, but Ethan was glad it was drawing to an end. He was sure people would party late into the night and most likely early morning too, but he was sneaking out of here in a little bit.
“Where’s Dad?” Hazel spoke into his neck as he hugged her goodbye.
“I don’t know, I haven’t seen him in a while.” Maybe he’d gone off with someone. Ethan did his best not to show a reaction.
“I’ll call you tomorrow.” Hazel kissed his cheek. “You’re the best dad anyone could wish for.”
