Astrid watched him with a cold stare. "You both deserved it." She growled, not flinching when Damien came only inches from her. His gaze filled with hatred now. His gaze changed to a mixture of shock and anger when he saw Caleb's mark on her shoulder. "Why you-" Damien started, grabbing her by the waist. Astrid relaxed a little when Caleb stepped in front of her, pushing away Damien's hand. "Touch her and you will be next." Caleb snarled the threat. "Now take his body and leave." Astrid watched as Damien retreated, taking Johnathan's body with him. As soon as they were gone, Caleb moved away from her without a word, grabbing Jack and leaving. "Lets go." He growled as he walked away. Astrid was shocked by his mood. She wondered what was wrong with him. But it also flashed in her mind, was Johnathan really Damien's father? And if he was, and Caleb was Jack's son... What did that mean about her? Is that why she is special?
As soon as they got back, she realized that most of the house was awake by now. They all crowded around when Caleb walked in with Jack. Astrid sighed when he just ignored them as kept walking. She realized he was headed right to the nurse. Astrid knew she wasn't wanted right now, so instead she didn't say a word to anyone and headed up stairs to the room. As soon as she shut the door she went right to the bed and flopped down. Was Caleb mad at her or upset because of Jack? She knew it wouldn't be long before she found out.
Astrid was drifting to sleep before she heard the door open and close. When she opened her eyes she found Caleb watching her, pain in his gaze. "Whats wrong?" she asked, sitting up in the bed, she felt her heart sink as he took his gaze off of hers and walked toward the window. "You know exactly what is wrong." He said in a growl, making her heart break into pieces. "Caleb...I'm sorry... Johnathan told me if anyone followed me, he would kill you and Jack... He is the alpha and you... mean to much to me to lose like that so I agreed." Astrid spoke more clearly than she thought she would, she expected the words to stick in her throat. Caleb spun around to face her. His eyes filled with pain. "Astrid, you don't understand! You know what would have happened if I wasn't there? He would have killed you. You would be dead! I wouldn't be able to live with that!" His voice didn't tremble as he looked away. "I..." Astrid couldn't find the word to say. "Listen to me. You mean too much just to be thrown away like that. You mean to much to me." Caleb said, his voice cracking. Astrid closed her eyes and looked down at the blanket that she was sitting on. I didn't mean to cause trouble. I was trying to make it easier for you and safer for everyone. She sighed when she opened her eyes again, but not meeting his gaze. "It wouldn't have been easier for me. I wouldn't be able to live knowing I could have stopped you." Caleb hesitated for a moment. " I didn't mean to mark you last night. It was a mistake on my part. I wasn't in much control." He spoke with regret in his voice as he leaned against the window, the dawn light filtering in now.
Astrid turned her head away, not wanting to show the hurt that she felt from what he said. He regrets it. Was the only thing she could think about. She didn't look up when she saw his shadow move closer to her. When she didn't look up at him, Caleb crouched in front of her, cupping her cheeks gently. "That's not what I mean. I am more that happy to be with you. But can't you see how much trouble this causes? If you would have died, it would have been my fault." He murmured, moving her chin so that she would look at him. Astrid only relaxed when his scent filled her nose, warm and comforting and no matter how much she fought to be angry, she couldn't. "Now what." She whispered, her gaze searching his for answers.
Caleb got back up and shook his head sadly. "I dont know, but I dont feel like it's going to be good. I need to talk to Jack when he heals." Caleb murmured, laying in the bed. Astrid shifted over, resting her head down on her pillow again. It didn't take long for her to drift to sleep, the last thing she felt was Caleb pulling her close to his body.
When Astrid woke up, Caleb was gone. Her heart sunk a little until she heard the shower running. Ah. She huffed with a smile as she climbed out of bed. Quietly, Astrid walked toward the bathroom and opened the door a little. Quickly, grabbing the towels that where in there and throwing them on the bed. When she went back to the bathroom she yawned and brushed out her hair, putting it into a ponytail. Astrid quickly brushed her teeth before going to look for something to wear. Maybe if I do this... she thought to herself as she took out a baby blue short-skirt and bikini top. Grinning, she slipped them on just in time to hear the shower stop and a frustrated groan from the bathroom. Letting out a small giggle, she dropped her old clothes into the laundry basket. "Astrid. You will regret this." Caleb's teasing voice came from the other room, Astrid could picture his greedy grin. "Sorry, I'm going out." She answered, biting her bottom lip as she walked toward the door. She felt a cool breeze and smiled when a familiar scent filled her nose. When she looked up she saw Caleb standing at the door butt-naked, his eyes definitely not on hers." Lifting her eye brow she smirked. "Not like that you aren't." He growled, walking closer. His eyes were finally peeled off of her body as he looked into her gaze. "Hmm." She huffed with a smirk. "Try and stop me." She shrugged before trying to go around him. Astrid let out a squeal when she felt him pick her up by her bare waist and move her toward the bed. She easily wrapped her legs around his waist, giggling when she felt his excitement. "You are mine." He growled again but softly as he trailed long kisses down her jaw and neck. Astrid let out a small moan when she felt him slide his hands up under her bikini top. His breath was making the hair stand up on her neck, causing a shiver to run down her spine. Slowly, Astrid ran her hands down to the part of him that was excited she inhaled slightly before feeling him pull his lips away and look at her, surprise written on his face. He opened his mouth to talk but Astrid shushed him by pressing finger to his lips. She sat up as he moved his back against the headboard. A smirk plastered on his lips. Astrid smiled as she climbed over top of him, her lips pressing into his strongly. He groaned in disappointment when she moved them away before trailing kisses down his chest, across his stomach. She stopped to admire his body for a moment. Mm. She thought, making him grin. Astrid smiled shyly when she glanced up at him, but his eyes were filled with love and approval as his hand rested behind her head. Taking a small breath she killed below his stomach, while stroking him slowly at first, causing a deep moan to escape his lips. "Astrid." he groaned in a whisper. Astrid smirked as she went down on him, she moved her hands to his thighs and her mouth moved lower...
"Caleb!" A loud voice boomed, causing Astrid to jump back in surprise when pounding came onto the door. Caleb groaned and covered his angry face with a pillow. "Its okay... I will be here for a long time, we can finish this later." Astrid whispered in his ear as she crawled up toward his face. She removed the pillow and placed it down gently beside them. Caleb's face was still twisted with anger and frustration, they were still a deep blue but it was fading quick. Astrid smiled softly and closed her eyes as she kissed him, sitting down behind the excited part of him. She moved her face away and took a sharp inhale when he ground his hips upwards. His face was in a grin before they kissed again as he continued. The knock was almost forgotten by the lust between them.
"Caleb answer the door before I come in!" The voice boomed again, almost sounding as if he would knock the door down with his fist. Caleb let out a growl, Astrid kissed him softly on the cheek. Don't get too angry at whoever that is. She thought to him when she got up and slipped on a loose shirt, leaving the skirt. She looked back at Caleb who was putting clothes on. "Easy for you to say, you don't know who it is." He grumbled with an irritated voice. He glanced at her and shook her head, his lips pressed in a frown. "You will want to change. Its probably safer for me." He said quietly. "Why?" Astrid asked questioningly. Caleb shook his head. "Okay but it's on you." He huffed before opening up the door.
Astrid raised her eyebrows when she saw a shirtless guy, a few years older than Caleb with dark brown hair. He looked very similar to Caleb, his muscle tone and build was close to the same. She looked down when the guy grinned at her. "Might want to find a new mate if she looks at strange guys like that." The man commented, when Astrid looked back up she saw the guy checking her out. Not my fault I was in the middle of something heated and a random stranger shows up shirtless. Put some clothes on asshole. Astrid ranted in her head, forgetting that Caleb could hear her. But when she glanced at him, his face was cold. The man didn't bother with Caleb's gaze as he walked right into the room. "Man you are a looker, I see why Caleb wanted you." He licked his lips, coming up to Astrid and placing his hands on her waist. Astrid flinched away, being in enough discomfort that Caleb growled, pushing the man away and pinning him against the wall by his throat. "Touch her again and I will make you regret it, cousin or not." He snarled in a low voice. "Cousin?" Was all Astrid could manage. Her waist still tingled where the guy pressed in his fingers. She watched as Caleb looked down, loosening his grip a little. That gave the man a chance to get out, and walk back toward her calmly. His face was a big smirk, unphased.
Astrid glared at him before flinching away when he went to grab her again. A laugh escaping his lips. "Caleb I don't understand how you get her to do anything for you." He teased before rolling his eyes at her. Astrid sighed a little and grabbed Caleb's arm when he went to pass her to attack his cousin again. Don't. She warned him, only letting go when he relaxed but shielded her partly from him. "Aw, aren't you cute trying to save me?" The guy gushed mockingly, clasping his hands together. "Clarke what do you want." Caleb asked aggressively, Astrid rested her hand on the back of his shirt, causing him to calm down a little. Caleb he is trying to get a reaction from you. Astrid pleaded. She didn't like Clarke. He was teasing mostly, but was very forward.
"So, I guess by the looks of her reaction you never told her about me?" Clarke asked, staring at Astrid's chest. "She doesn't know anything yet." Caleb growled protectively. Astrid felt her face blush as she gritted her teeth, glaring at Clarke.
"Who are you again?" She growled, quieter than she'd hoped. Astrid watched as he smirked. "Well cutie, I happen to be the one who found you last month at the orphanage." He stated proudly, a grin spread across his face. Astrid looked at him in shock. Clarke sighed happily when Caleb rolled his eyes at him. "Now, I would have loved to keep a girl like you to myself..." Clarke spoke smoothly as he took a step toward her. Before Astrid could snap at him, Caleb growled another warning. Rolling his eyes, Clarke continued. "But, I knew I couldn't because you were already supposed to be mates with a few future alphas." He added with a smirk as he walked toward the window to look out. "And we used to be close until I figured out that you handed her over to Jonathan instead of your own kin." Caleb snapped. Astrid could feel the anger radiating off of him. Astrid tensed up when Clarke turned around and stepped close to Caleb, only inches from his face. "It seems like it was a good idea." He growled, his eyes jet black. When Astrid blinked they were almost normal again. "And considering you haven't marked her yet, I would think about taking her back to them." Clarke added as he moved past Caleb, grabbing Astrid quickly as holding her by the waist as a hostage. Astrid flinched when she heard the anger in Caleb's growl. She shut her eyes and rammed her elbow into Clarke's stomach. She smirked with satisfaction when he groaned in pain, letting his grip loosen slightly. She darted out of his grasp and quickly moved to Caleb, closing her eyes when he wrapped his arm around her protectively. "Ah, so I see that it is you who is reluctant to mark her." Clarke nodded. Astrid shifted uncomfortably when his gazed stayed on her. "Clarke that's enough!" Caleb's growl was so deep that even Astrid flinched, causing him to glance at her with concern in his gaze. "Aw, don't scare your fragile mate. She might go running to Damien on you." Clarke smirked as Caleb snarled. "Because apparently she already did that and had so much fun." Astrid felt Caleb's body temperature grown as she tried to calm him down, but it was too late.
Caleb launched himself at Clarke, in full wolf form. Astrid yelped as she fell back onto the floor. The deafening sound of growling and snapping teeth filled the room. Astrid knew that there were going to be injuries coming from this. "Stop it!" Suddenly, a deep voice rumbled from the doorway. Astrid watched as Jack walked into the room, his eyes were blazing but he looked calm. Both of the boys stopped fighting and glanced over to him. Clarke shifted back from his shaggy grey wolf to his human form. Astrid let out a small yelp as she covered her face with her hands. He was stark naked! "Put some clothes on, both of you and come down to my office right away!" she heard Jack growl and the door slam. "Get out of my room." Caleb was the next to growl. Astrid blinked her eyes open when the door slammed shut again. When she looked up, Caleb was doing up the bottom on his jeans a few feet away. His dark gaze rested on her, concern flashing in his eyes. "Are you alright?" He asked, walking over. Astrid nodded as her gaze floated down his body, specks of sweat glistened across his bare chest and abs. When she blinked and looked back up at him, his eyes were back to the beautiful blue as they sparkled with amusement.
Astrid got to her feet and walked over to him, placing her hands around his neck and hugging him close to her. She relaxed when his grip tightened around her waist. "Don't scare me like that." She mumbled as she snuggled her face into thee crook of his neck. She smiled and kissed his neck when she felt him sigh. He moved back and gently grabbed her arms. "You have no idea how hard it is for me to hear someone - especially him- say something like that." He murmured, frustration laced his voice as he searched her gaze. Astrid huffed. You have no idea what Damien said when... Bad thoughts from when Damien stole her flashed through her mind and she visibly flinched. She snapped from her thoughts when she heard Caleb growl again, his eyes almost black. Astrid frowned, she didn't mean to upset him. She placed a hand on his chest to calm him down. "That's over now, don't worry about it." She whispered, letting out a smile when he brushed some stray hair behind her ear. "I know." He said quietly, before kissing her on the forehead. "I need to go get in trouble, I will see you later." He winked at her before walking out of the room.
As soon as Astrid threw on some more decent clothes she took a deep breath and walked out of the room, heading in the direction of Jack's office. "Im part of that conversation, I should be able to listen." She whispered to herself as she walked down the hallway. Once she found herself at the front of the door, she could already hear the arguing.
"You had no right to say that in front of my mate!"
"Well there has to be some reason she isn't your mate yet, so yes I did!"
"Clarke you are such a-"
"Enough!"
Astrid jumped at the sound of Jack's harsh voice. She blinked in surprise that he couldn't even be so angry, every time she had met him he was calm and sweet.
"Astrid deserves better than you, if I were supposed to be her mate I would have marked her by now. You are lucky I haven't yet."
"Your heart would be out of your body in a matter of seconds." Caleb growled.
"Boys. That is enough. Clarke, why are you really here?" Jack's voice cleared.
"Well, I came here as a messenger."
"From who?" Caleb asked coldly.
"Her parents." Clarke said quietly. Astrid almost didn't hear it. She had to think about those words for a moment, not realising that the room was silent. No way. She thought to herself as her mind clouded. She backed away from the door and froze when she kicked a chair.
Quickly, Astrid walked as fast as she could down the hall. "Astrid!" She heard her voice being called but she ignored it and walked through the door. She quickly changed to her wolf form, not caring if her heat scent filled the air. She began to run, her speed picking up. She slowed down when she reached her favourite place. She had many memories about this place already. Astrid gazed around at the clearing, listening to the river. She knew she would come back eventually so she left a bikini and clothes in the tree. Quickly shifting back, she put on the black bikini that she had as well as the yellow tank top and jean shorts.
As she finished, the thought still roamed in her mind. Upsetting her once again. Why did her parents give her up if they were still alive? Did they not want her? Questions roamed through her mind as she felt her heart tear when she thought about Caleb. Why didn't he tell me? Did he not know how important that would be to me? Astrid felt a tear run down her cheek as she watched the river. The sky reflecting the beautiful dawn colors on the water.
"I didn't mean to hurt you." A soft voice cracked from behind her. Astrid didn't even turn around, she didn't reply. "Astrid... This was one of the things that I wasn't allowed to tell you." The hurt in his voice caused her heart to strain. Everything was shocking to her, why couldn't she just have a normal life?
"Astrid talk to me." His voice grew closer, until she could feel his warmth against her back. Astrid let out a small sigh as more tears threatened her, causing her eyes to sting. She felt a warm hand grab her arm as he lifted her up to her feet. Astrid turned around to face him, his eyes were glazed with worry. Astrid took a deep breath and pushed him away with all the strength she could muster. "Please let me be right now." She said quietly, she tried to hide the pain. Caleb nodded, moving toward her and placing a gentle kiss on her forehead before shifting and walking away slowly. He glanced back with sadness in his gaze before disappearing. As soon as he was gone, Astrid collapsed to the ground in tears. Why didn't he just tell her? It wasn't like it had anything to do with them, they where her parents!
Astrid sobbed on the ground for a few hours, until the son had reached its peak before going for a walk through the forest, she didn't bother shifting because she wasn't in a rush. Keeping her eyes on her feet, she let her thoughts rush through her mind. By the time she got back to the house she still didn't feel like talking to anyone she knew right now. So instead, she walked toward the school. It didn't talk her long to walk through the field, she had the route memorized now. But by the time she got to the doorway she remembered her scent. Crap. She sighed and shook her head as she walked through the front doors. This place was more like a lounge than a school. They even had a bar in on of the rooms. Astrid had no idea how they got away with advertising it as a school.
"Astrid?" Astrid turned around to see a girl with jet black hair smiling at her. "Hi," She replied, slightly puzzled. "Sorry, I never got to introduce myself when you were in our pack, my name is Janice." Astrid froze for a moment before putting on a smile. "Nice to meet you!" She said happily before turning around. The last thing she wanted to do was socialize with someone from the other pack. Letting out her breath, she wandered around, eavesdropping on people and trying to distract her thoughts but none of it was working. Every time she stopped listening to people's conversations the thought came back. Would she get a chance to meet her parents? Would they actually want to meet her? Do they even care? Did they want her dead, is that why they sent Clarke? Maybe that was why he was a messenger... Astrid froze at the last thought. That would explain a lot... Letting out a shaky breath, Astrid decided to go to the locker room to sit down alone to think. It was useless trying to avoid the thoughts she was having.
When Astrid entered the room, she closed the door softly behind her. She quietly walked to the window and sat on the window ledge, gazing at the field with the forest behind it. She had to admit it was very calming, the colors helped her relax a little. Fall is near though. It is going to colder. She sighed. She didn't mind the cold though, and she couldn't wait to see what it was like in her wolf form. But she would have to remember to bring clothes, she wouldn't want to shift in the middle of the winter without clothes! Letting out a small huff of laughter, she leaned her head against the edge of the window, closing her eyes. This is exactly what she needed. Some time by herself to calm down and thing. Astrid couldn't help but have her mind drift off toward Caleb. She was just getting this whole thing sorted out between who she would pick, and getting used to not knowing anything. Now she was learning new things about the secrets they have anways hid from her she couldn't help but find it overwhelming. Especially news as big as figuring out your dead parents that left you as an orphan, were actually alive. "And not even being told in person." She muttered as she opened her eyes.
"Ah so we meet again." A strong voice popped up from the doorway.
