I woke up, feeling nothing but bliss. My body was still sore and my back still hurt like hell, but every thing else was perfect.
I breathed in deeply as I stretched my sore limbs. A strong scent of cooked meat and rosemary filled my nostrils.
I looked around the room, noticing that Rámon wasn’t here anymore.
The sheets were a mess on the bed, reminding me of what took place yesterday. A packed duffle bag sat on the edge of the bed, peaking my curiosity.
I grabbed it and went through it, noticing that it was packed with all of my stuff. My birth control pills were even inside.
I smiled, knowing this was my mother’s doing. She must have stopped by and sent someone over to drop it off.
I grabbed my birth control pills and popped a pill out of the pack before swallowing it. There was no way I could get pregnant—not now at least.
I grabbed one of Rámon’s button-ups and slipped it on. I left a couple of buttons open at the top, showing a little cleavage.
It’ll drive him crazy.
I hopped off the bed and skipped my way through his penthouse. If I’m being totally honest, I was very eager to see him again—more than eager.
I took a look around, noticing that he had all the finest decor and furnishings inside of his place. Everything was luxurious, not what I expected for Rámon to be staying in.
I stepped into the living room, seeing a whole wall made of glass that overlooked an infinity pool that overlooked the city.
The view was amazing—the best money could buy.
“Ah, my princess finally woke up.” Rámon’s sexy chuckle came from nearby.
I turned to see him in the kitchen. He was platting some freshly cooked food. He had an apron wrapped around his waist, covering his expensive three piece navy-blue suit.
He looked so sexy.
The scent of steak and rosemary, made my mouth water.
“Smells good.” I praised as I walked over to him and took a peak at the plates.
There were two plates piled high with perfectly cooked ribeye with rosemary stems on top, along with garlic butter mashed-potatoes and roasted asparagus on the side.
There was also a basket full of buttery rolls nearby that looked divine.
“It’s all for you.” He smiled before wrapping his arm around me and leaving a sweet kiss on my forehead. “Why don’t you take a seat while I bring our dinner.”
I nodded my head before walking off.
There was a small table set up with candles. A huge bouquet of red roses sat in the middle, while the finest china and wine glasses sat on both sides of the placemats.
“Who knew Rámon Bonanno was so romantic?” I giggled, not being able to hold myself back.
“You seem to bring it out of me, little one.”
My face started to hurt from how much I was smiling, but it was all genuine. I could feel the blush coat my cheeks as I stared at him with dreamy eyes and the way he naturally moved around the kitchen.
I took a seat at the table and relished in the romance that was swirling around the air. The lights to his penthouse were off and the only light came from the huge glass walls that over looked the city.
Everything was just..perfect.
Rámon walked the plates over and sat one in front of me before setting one on his side.
“Hold on, let me grab the wine.” He ran back to the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of wine from the fridge. I could only laugh at the way he tried to make everything so perfect.
“I know you shouldn’t be drinking wine, but tonight is a special occasion.” He popped the cork and poured some delicious red wine into my glass.
I giggled, knowing he acted like my father sometimes. “A little wine isn’t gonna kill me Ràmon.”
He rolled his eyes as he took a seat across from me. I gave him a cheeky wink, making his face beam with happiness.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen him this happy.
“You look so good in my clothes.” He sighed out as his eyes stared at me and how tempting my cleavage was.
I hugged his shirt closer to me, breathing in his spicy cologne that still lingered.
“Your clothes are pretty comfortable.” I smiled, making him laugh.
His shirt was like a dress on me. It dropped to my knees and I was practically bathing in it.
“Well, you can wear them anytime.”
“I’ll have to take you up on that.” I teased, making him wink.
“Enough with the flirting little one.” He joked, “Dig in before it gets cold.”
I nodded my head before picking up my utensils and digging in.
Everything looked delicious, but it tasted even better than it looked. I could definitely get used to him cooking for me every night.
…
Rámon and I stared at each other from across the table. We finished our food and were just basking in each other’s presence.
The silence was welcoming and even comforting. Our eyes seemed to do the talking as we continued to stare at each other.
I swirled my wine glass in my fingers before taking another sip. I noticed the way Rámon’s eyes dropped to my lips and the way he watched me drink the red wine.
I licked my lips, savoring every ounce of that delicious red wine.
“You are so beautiful little one.” He whispered.
His voice was deep and hoarse, like it was taking every thing in him not to jump over this table and take me right here.
“How beautiful?” I asked as I batted my eyelashes, laying it on a little thick.
“You’re the most gorgeous woman I have ever laid my eyes on.”
“Is that so?” I smirked as I trailed my fingers down the collar of his shirt, exposing more skin.
He grunted out in hunger as his eyes narrowed and looked so dark that a beast was starting to take over.
“Control yourself little one.” He playfully threatened, “You’ll get way more than what you’re expecting.”
“Is that so?” I giggled, not being able to hold my laughter in.
He smiled and nodded his head before downing his glass of wine and setting it back on the table.
“Plus, we have much to talk about.” He cleared his throat as his face got all serious. “I think we need to clear some things up between us.”
I nodded my head, “I agree.”
“I just want to say that my intentions were never to hurt you, little one.” He spoke out with a pained expression, “I’ve only tried to do what was best for you.”
I furrowed my brows, “Then why did you abandon me all those years?”
“I didn’t want to abandon you Caterina. I was just suppose to travel and come back.”
The beautiful moment was now ruined as the pains from the past resurfaced.
“But you abandoned me and never even said goodbye.” I snapped back, seeing him flinch at my tone. “Just tell me why you did it.”
“Before I left, your father pulled me aside and threatened me.” He admitted, “He told me that I wasn’t good enough for you and that I needed to let you go. If I didn’t, then he’d make my life a living hell.”
“What?!” I yelled out, feeling like I was blindsided, “I’m gonna kill him!”
“No, little one.” Rámon sighed out, “This is why I didn’t want to tell you because I don’t want your relationship with your father to be ruined over something as stupid as this.”
“But this isn’t some little stupid thing Rámon!”
“He did what he thought was right Caterina.” He explained, “He only wanted what was best for his little girl. He didn’t want a grown man pining after his little girl. I understand why he did what he did.”
“No! That’s not fair!” I argued back, “He should have never got involved. Maybe things would have been different if I knew what happened.”
“Caterina.” He sighed out.
“No Rámon!” I yelled back, “I thought you abandoned me because you didn’t love me anymore.”
Tears pooled in my eyes as I thought back to the past and how I felt after Rámon left without even saying goodbye.
“Caterina.” He whispered before getting up and walking over. He dropped to one knee and wiped the tears that started to fall. “I never stopped loving you. I could never stop loving you, so don’t be sad, it’s all in the past. We’re together now and thats all that matters.”
“Yeah but..”
“No buts.” He cut me off before leaning in and softly kissing my lips, “We are together now and thats all that matters.”
I nodded my head as i stared down at him.
He was so handsome.
“I have always loved you, little one. Even when I left.” He confessed, “For a while, I believed your father. I thought I would never be good enough for you because you deserved someone perfect—and I’m definitely not perfect.”
“Oh Rámon.” I whimpered.
“No, let me finish.” He smiled as he caressed my cheek, “I may have believed him, but after a while, I knew I needed to change to be the man you deserved. I still may not be that man you deserve, but I promise you that I will do everything in my power to be that man, because you are worth it.”
I smiled as tears rolled down my cheeks.
“You are so smart and funny.” he chuckled, “The most beautiful woman on the planet and so f*****g talented in many ways.”
“You may be a little bitchy sometimes, but all the headaches you give me is worth spending the rest of my life with you.” He chuckled, making me laugh.
I flicked his nose, “I am not bitchy.”
“You are totally bitchy.” He joked, making me laugh.
“Maybe just a little.” I blushed.
He pulled me into his arms and kissed me, instantly silencing me.
“God, I love you so much Caterina, and I could never live a life without you.” He confessed, making my heart flutter.
“So with that being said.” He reached into his suit jacket and pulled out a black-velvet ring box, “Caterina Genovese Gambino, will you do me the honor and spend the rest of your life with me? Will you please marry me, little one?”
He opened the box, showcasing a huge ruby that was encrusted with so many smaller diamonds that opened out like petals to a flower. There had to be over twenty carats worth of diamonds on this ring.
I gasped in shock, not knowing what to say.
My eyes flickered between the priceless ring and back to his expecting eyes. My heart pounded in my chest as I tried to find the words to speak.
This is what I’ve always wanted, so why was it taking me so long to say yes.
“Yes.” I whispered, “Yes, I’ll marry you.”
He smiled before taking the ring out of the box and slipping it onto my ring finger. He grabbed my face and smashed our lips together, making me laugh.
He cheered out in happiness as he pulled me into his arms and practically squeezed me to death.
“Rámon.” I laughed as I pried myself out of his beefy arms.
“I f*****g love you so much!” He smiled with pride before peppering my face with kisses.
I giggled and enjoyed every second of it.
“Rámon!” I squealed out, “Stop for a second.”
He listened to me and stopped. His fingers trailed through my long and messy curls as he gave me his undivided attention.
“This.” I looked down at the ring on my finger, “Means more than just commitment. It means trust, loyalty, and unwavering faith in each other.”
He nodded his head, “Yes little one.”
“I need to know that you will always be honest with me Rámon.” I pleaded out to him, “No more secrets and no more disappearing off the face of the earth without a word.”
“No more secrets, little one.” He promised, “I will never lie to you. You can trust me.”
“I do trust you.” I smiled before I leaned in and kissed his lips.
He sighed out as he rested his forehead against mine.
“I love you so much.”
“I love you too.” I whispered with a smile.
Welp..I guess I was getting married.
