The violent blue sky is packed with angry clouds, ready for another shower. The feeling of the water healing my cuts and grazes felt wonderful as I floated away into an abyss. The sun was fighting to watch the scene as the ashes of the Lethal drifted beside me. My eyes fluttered shut welcoming a dark orange from the light that penetrated them. Until I heard my name being called from the woods that surrounded such a wonderful water body.
"Lavender! Laven-.. ..Chase, get her out of the water. Sid, get the medkit."
My chest felt sore as I looked at Kaïzer and his pack rushing into the water to help me. I most definitely have broken something, I could taste a familiar metallic liquid filling up my mouth. I forced myself to speak, coughing up the crimson that blocked my airway. "Y-You're alive," A deep chuckle eroded from Kaïzer as Chase lifted me out of my temporary safe haven. "You're the one that we need to worry about."
After a long and tiresome travel to the Night Howler's pack, I've finally gotten the proper care that my aching body deserved. I still couldn't believe that I've gotten out of that encounter alive. The voice didn't speak to me all this time but I couldn't help but wonder what she meant. Karla has finally woken up and I was just waiting to see her.
Venturing to her room, My eyes made contact with her hues. Water was rushing down her throat soothing her dry throat as she tipped the glass back. Kaïzer's bulky hands gripped my shoulder, taking away my attention from the unpoisoned girl. "Did you run away from it?" My face scrunched at his words. Tired from today's events I could hardly focus on what anyone was saying. "The Lethal?"
The quick roll of his eyes had me laughing. I knew that his question was obvious but not enough for my drained brain. "Yes, lavender, what else could I have been talking about?"
"No, I killed it." His eyebrows raised then scrunched as if he didn't believe as he looked me over. "Don't tell him about the fire magic, say that you're joking!" Lily interrupted. I looked at Kaïzwe's bewildered expression before easing it with a false yet hearty laugh. "You should've seen the look on your face!"
"You really had me there, I was confused because the only thing that can kill that beast is fire and- Karla!" On the bed Karla had white foam dripping onto the sides of the bed from her mouth. Her eyes were rolled over so only the whites were seen as her body shook uncontrollably. I rushed over to her, only to be pulled back by the pack doctors as they turned her over onto her sides.
"You need to heal her lav," Lily's voice ringed through my head. Like a hundred voices saying the same thing at once, it was unnerving. "W-what only sprites can heal-'' A heavy breath escaped Lily's imaginary lips, obviously annoyed. "Time is ticking lavender, if you dont heal her she'll die." Looking at my best friend shaking uncontrollably with crimson replacing the white foam, I rushed over to her holding her hand and awaiting instructions.
"Oncarièr Mirage, use this to stop the time," I was weary but I continued anyway. I placed my hands out reciting the words.
"O-Oncarier Mirage," Kaïzer and all of the nurses stilled, the only people that could move were the seizing Karla and I.
"Good, now place your hands over her body and say 'Healencutí chanviour," I could feel Karla slipping away into a forever slumber. My eyes wet with tears as I recited Lily's spell only for the crimson that flowed relentlessly down Karla's chin to stop. Her shaking slowed to slight tremors and her hues met mine again in confusion. "You need to whisper the first spell I told you before Kalra sees the frozen people."
"Oncarièr Mirage," The people in the room continued like before, only to freeze out of shock. The nurses continued to examine Kalra as Kaïzer looked around as if he knew something but couldn't place it.
How can I heal and shoot fire out of my hands, How can I freeze time? How can I, The Broken Faery, do these things?
"Lavender?" Karla's dry throat croaked as she raised off of the bed to engulf me in a much-needed hug. "Karla! You're ok!" I squeezed her tightly until she tapped my back, gesturing that she couldn't breathe. "I-I sorry but for a second there, I was worried."
"Yeah, It was strange, One minute I was coughing up blood and the next I felt someone healing me, I think that it was Mother Moon!"
"Whoever it was, I'm glad that they brought you back, but we need to head out, Kaïzer told me that there's a library around here, I need to get to it."
After Karla was unadmitted we headed to the library with the Kaïzer's guide. "Is there anything about the Lethals that you didn't tell us?" Kaïzer glanced at me before pushing through the thick vines once more. The location of the library is weird, it was situated deep in his forest shielded by more vines than the bread that Jesus multiplied. It was unevering, being engulfed in an unknown place, not knowing what could go wrong. Karla's wings flapped above me like a guard on high alert. I knew that she felt the same way. The moon wavered in the sky, jumping from one place to another every time I took a step. It would follow me everywhere as its dull light provided a much warmth as it could.
Suddenly, I could feel holes being burnt into my body, as if someone or something was watching me. Growls erupted from an unknown source, Kaïzer froze. Cold sweat dripped from my forehead, I could feel my wounded thighs straining against the bandages as I prepared to run. Karla's wings seized their flutter as she carefully examined the vine filled forest. The growls grew louder and Kaïzer grabbed Karla before he barked his order to me. "Run!"
I searched through the vines, hearing heavy breaths behind me as Kaïzer transformed, pushing Karla in my direction. Growls echoed as my feet picked up speed. Pushing through the tangled vines and crawling under huge branches, I finally made it to a clearing. There stood an old building covered in moss with a tree growing out of its middle. Vines wrapped around it, holding it hostage, but I ran inside, opening a heavy brown door to be encountered with darkness.
I could hear the growls coming from outside which made me go deeper into the mysterious building, my hands grabbed dirty walls as I felt for a light switch. Finally finding one, I halted as an unfamiliar voice sounded at the entrance of the building before a loud squeak suggested that the person came inside. "Hello? I'm only here to bring you a package and ask you something." My breath sped up as I left the light switch, running deeper into the building but my luck wasn't at its peak as I tripped over something dusty and sharp. It tore through my shirt, slicing my side clean open. Hissing in pain, I applied pressure to it before scooting backwards only to feel someone looming over me.
