Chapter 4

It has been a hard decision for Victoria to get married. She had to make a decision though it’s a big one for her. It will be her freedom, and happiness that is at stake. But on the contrary, it will be a good business decision. Getting married to Cedrick will save their company and their name. And it will make her father happy and maybe in the end, he will love her and have affection for her.

“Okay, Dad. I will marry Cedrick. I will do this for you and for the company,” she told her while they are having coffee in the backyard of their house.

“Good decision. I will talk to his father and make the wedding preparations soon. I want your wedding to be big ang perfect,” he replied happily. She can see in the eyes of her father the happiness.

“No need, Dad. Just do it simple and intimate. Like, only us and our friends,” she suggested.

“Oh, no! No! No! It has to be grandiosegrandeous. I want to show people that we are the Shermans,” he added with pride. As always, he always thinks of his ego and name. Victoria felt offended. It seems that it is a business matter, as always.

The Porters and Shermans decided what the wedding plans would be. Victoria’s father sees to it that she can have the best but of course not for her but for the public to see. Cedrick on the other hand wants to give the best for Victoria also. Imagine how happy he was when he knew about her accepting the marriage? He never thought of it as a business marriage but for him it is a marriage of love. The excitement of him is undenying.

“Are you happy?” he asked Victoria while she was picking flowers for the wedding.

“Of course!” She smiled. “This is the best I guess,” she added.

Cedric hugged her from behind. “Yes! This is the best!” he whispered to her. And kissed her head.

Victoria smiled but she cannot hide the awkwardness she feels every time Cedrick becomes touchy to her. But, she has to do this! This is for her family.

They already distributed all their invitations and also made the wedding plans. In a few days, they will be getting married. People from the business world were very excited to see and witness the merging of two people, the two biggest companies either. They consider this as a merging wedding as businessmen/women. But gossips say that the wedding is being made because of the company’s state for the Shermans.

While Victoria is busy attending to her emails in her room, someone called her on skype. It’s her best friend Simone. She answered immediately

“GiiiirlGiiiirrl!!!” He screamed on her upon receiving the video call. “What is happening?!” he added.

“Wait! Wait. Slowdown -and quiet down will you?” she asked him. He is always like that everytime he calls her. It’s like there is fire coming. He always has his voice on soprano level.

Simone is her childhood friend. He moved to the United Kingdom when he was 20 years old. He is a openly gay friend of hers who her father hate. He doesn’t like him being with her and being her friend. But he cannot always be the controlling father. Simone is only the person who can understand her and who she can be.

“I heard the news! Why are you getting married to that guy anyway?” he asked finally.

“Simone, he is a good guy,” she explained.

“Okay, we are there that he is but do you love him? Don’t tell me you do, bitchy!”

“I do.” she didn’t hold back.

“Vicz..” he calls her that. “I know you and nobody knows you more than I do, so don’t be a hypocrite with me okay?” he continued.

Victoria let a deep sigh.

“What’s wrong? What happened?” Simone continued with questions.

Victoria became silent for a while, trying to think what she would tell him.

“He is a good man, Simone, and there are things that I love about him,” she finally answered.

“Like what? Vicz, is this what your Dad wants?” He finally spilled what he wanted to tell her. Simone knows Victoria’s father well too. If there is a person who Victoria loves the most and is scared the most, that’s her father.

“No! No! No! It’s my own choice,” she denies it.

“Whatever, Victoria! Think about it carefully girl. This is about you and your happiness not your father’s. So if you decide now, you can never turn back. But whatever it is, i will support you if that makes you happy. As long as I will be your most beautiful, gorgeous bff!” He ended it with a comic remark to make the atmosphere lighter.

They laugh together.

“You are still my craziest and most hilarious bff ever, Simone! Thank you! And thank you for making me laugh with your humor. I love you, Girl!”

“I love you too, girl! Never forget that!”

Their call ended with fun and laughter. She’s most comfortable around Simone and she can tell everything to him.

THE DAY OF VICTORIA and CEDRICK WEDDING

It is held in Dolce Hotel. One of the largest and luxurious hotels in New Jersey. They occupied the Presidential Ballroom for their 500 guests that included family and friends of both sides. Also with their business partners and some big names in the business world and wine industry.

It was an elegant and breathtaking wedding venue. The room is filled with white flowers. Every table is arranged perfectly with white and blue table motifs. There are also flowers on every table and the cutleries and glasses are placed perfectly. The whole ambiance is very relaxing added by the decorations on the ceremony area. It is planned perfectly and executed flawlessly by their wedding planners.

Guests are arriving in their best dresses and suits. Everyone adored and praised the place. Most of the people that arrive know each other. Most of the guests arrived. People in the wine and drinks department started to serve people drinks. All sorts of wines. That’s the business of Victoria’s family too.

Cedrick arrived first. He looks so elegant and handsome in his wedding suits. A white collared shirt with a dark red necktie, a grayish vest, topped with his blue suit and trouser. He paired his attire with one of his favorite brown shoes. With his slicked-back hair and clean shaved beard. He does really look like Matthew Macconaughey. He greeted everyone while he waited for Victoria to arrive. He is very excited for this day. Finally! He will be marrying the woman of his dreams, the woman he loves. He’s ecstatic that it makes him smile every now and then. He made sure that this day is the best day for him and Victoria. He made sure that everything is in place and everything is going as planned. He even talked to their wedding planner to check if everything is okay. It’s his wedding and it’s her woman that she wants to make happy.

After a while, Victoria arrived. Her beauty is beyond perfect. With her white gown empire waist wedding gown, you can see her body shape, her neckline and the form of her breast. The trainline is long enough for her to carry, a half meter long. It makes her even sexier but elegant. She partnered it with the necklace and earrings that her mother gave. And uses a three inches stiletto. Her long hair was done with a Dutch braid and with a high volume in front. She looks fabulous. While she walks, everybody looks at her in awe. She’s the prettiest in the room. Cedrick can’t stop staring at her with an open mouth. The woman she will be going to be with his whole life is so damn hot and sexy and gorgeous.

“The most lucky guy in the world, man!” One of his friends nudged him. That made him come to his senses.

He smiled. “Yes I am!” he answered.

When Victoria reached him, she greeted her with a smile.

“You look fabulous,” he whispered to her before kissing her cheek.

“Thank you!” she answered back with a smile.

The officiating priest started the wedding ceremony. Everybody took their respective seats. The families of both parties sat in different tables but they are so into this wedding most specially the fathers. They are the ones who arrange this and they think this is the best decision for them. You can see the delight in Victoria's father, but a slight of worry on her mother's face. She thought of the day that her daughter came home furious about this decision. While she looks in her face, you see happiness but there is this slight of sadness on her daughter's eyes.

"Those people or couples that are bound to be together by the Lord, will be separated by the Lord. May you love each other everyday and respect each other. Always open your hearts for forgiveness and be wise enough to handle all the hardship of being married. It's tough but with your love for each other, it makes it easier. Love is not easy but when you truly love, it will be enough to make you fight. By the power vested in me, I pronounce you Man and wife. You may kiss your bride." The priest ended it.

Slowly, Cedrick goes near Victoria, he lovingly looks her in the eyes and says, "I love you!" He slowly lay his lips on hers and shared their first kiss as husband and wife. Victoria closed her eyes and felt the soft lips of her husband. She answered it back. They felt each other's breath. Then suddenly, loud claps echoed inside the room.
