Victoria’s Secret

Chapter 2

Victoria parked her car when she came home from the office. She tries to calm herself before going inside the house. She knows what is gonna happen the time she opens the door. She let a deep sigh to clear her anxiousness for once. She knows her father. When he is angry then he is REALLY angry. Upon opening her car door, she grabbed her bag and walked down the aisle going in theri main door.

The helper, Sonia, opens the door for her.

“Is Dad home?” first thing she asked.

“He’s in his study,” Sonia answers. “What happened? He seems very upset about you.” She continued. Sonia and Victoria are close to each other. They are like mother and daughter. Sonia took care of Victoria when she was 6years old and Sonia was 15 at that time. She’s like the confidant s***h mother s***h helper for Victoria. If there is something wrong with her, she will know right away.

“A long story,” she answered.

“Okay. I guess better to talk about it tomorrow or else he will vent his anger at you.” she advised.

“No. I will go there now. It’s better to see him now.” She walks straight to her father’s study room. She knocked the door before opening it.

“Hello, Dad,” she greets him. He is sitting on his swivel chair, a glass on his hand.

He didn’t move on his swivel chair. He looks at her and takes a sip on his wine glass. Before her father let out his fury, she told him about the meeting with Cedrick tomorrow.

“I made the meeting with Cedrick for tomorrow, Dad. Sorry that i didn’t manage to go this afternoon. I have a lot….”

She didn’t even finish her sentence when her Dad suddenly smacked the table.

“A lot of what?!” he screamed at her. Victoria is startled. Her heart suddenly stopped. She has this great fear for her father even when she's a kid. When he raises his voice, all she wants to do is run away from him. She clenched her fist to prevent herself from shaking.

“I-I have…” she stutters to answer.

“Are you trying to ruin my reputation because i have a hard headed and stubborn daughter?!” He continued. “I feel so ashamed because you turned down Cedrick’s invitation and i cannot believe that you have the guts to do that!”

“Sorry, Dad.” The only thing she can say while bowing her head. She can’t look her father in the eyes. There is a brief silence between them. Victoria felt more nervous because of that.

“Can you please, just please do what i say, Victoria. This is for your own good.” Her father suddenly said. She is now confused. Is she hearing the right words? Does her father say those?

She lifted her head to look at him. She met his eyes. She doesn’t know what he is thinking but one thing is for sure, she felt happy. She’s happy because for the first time, her father said something so beautiful to her. She felt the sincerity of his words. She’s not sure if it’s full sincerity or it’s just because she longs for this day to come.

“I’m sorry, Dad. I will do my beat this time,” she answered.

“Good. Meet him tomorrow and get to know him better. I know it’s a rush for you but i think Cedrick is the right guy for you to marry. He is a good looking guy and also from a rich family. I know you will get along well. And also, his father told me that he has his eyes on you even before,” he explained.

So this is the reason. This is the reason why he wanted me to meet him. In Victoria’s head.

She wanted to protest but she chose not too. She doesn’t want to upset her father this time. If that’s what makes him happy and makes him love her then she will follow what he wants her to do.

“Okay, Dad. I will,” she agreed.

After the talk with her father, she felt relieved when she’s out of the room. While she’s on her way to her room, her mother calls her.

Victoria! You are home,” she said from the living room.

“Hi, Mom! Yeah, I just talked to Dad,” she answered back.

“What is it this time?”

“Oh, not that much. We only talked about work,” she lied. She lied because she knows that if her Mom knows about this, she will make a scene again and fight with her father.

The next day, Victoria went to work as usual. Very busy the whole day that she couldn't even see the time.

“Vicky, i just want to remind you about the meeting with Cedrick Porter in about an hour.” Her secretary told her.

“Oh yeah! Thank you Lara for reminding. Do i have something to finish before that time?”

“For now, nothing. I cleared the schedule for you so you can do the meeting today.”

“Wow! That’s great! . I will prepare myself in twenty minutes and you can go home after,” she instructed her.

After finishing all she had to finish in the office, she prepared herself for the meeting. Holding her beauty purse, she went to the toilet to fix herself. She let her long hair fall onto her shoulder. She put just the right makeup on her face, a pink lipstick and she sprayed perfume on herself too.

After fixing herself, she looked at her image in the mirror. She let out a deep sigh and went.

When she arrived at the restaurant, Cedrick was not there yet. It’s better for her. She sat on the table she booked.

“Any drinks Madam?” The waiter asked her when she’ sitted.

“Just water, please. Thanks!” she replied.

Then the waiter went. She fixed her seat. Check her watch and what time it is. She’s five minutes early. She sat there calmly while waiting for Cedrick. After two minutes, the guy came.

Upon entering the restaurant, the greeter welcomed him. He told the lady the name of the person booked in the restaurant. He looks around to see where Victoria is. And in that instant, he saw her. She’s sitting while she’s sipping her glass of water.

“No problem, I already saw her,” he told the lady without even looking at her. His eyes are fixed where Victoria is. He still sees her like a goddess. Very gorgeous with her long hair, brown dazzling eyes, pink kissable lips. She’s elegant and sexy with her black, low neckline blouse with a small bow in front. You can see her neck and part of her cleavage. It seems like the world is in slow motion for Cedrick. He’s enjoying what he is looking at right now. Most specially when Victoria sip some water on her glass, slowly put the glass down and rest her right hand on her chin.

Cedrick didn’t dare to blink while looking at her. He nearly tripped on a chair. He suddenly came to life when Victoria saw him and waved at him.

“Hello, Mr. Porter,” greeted Victoria while she stood up and stretched her right arm.

Cedrick smiled sweetly and reached the arm to shake hands. “Hello, Victoria. Nice to meet you at last,” he replied. “Sorry to keep you waiting.”

“Oh, no! You are just in time. I came early that’s why. Take a seat,” she offered.

He takes the seat in front of her. “How are you by the way? Not so busy at work?” He tries to make a conversation.

“Ooh, everything is fine. I am busy as always and that is why I couldn't make it the first time. How about you? I heard you are expanding again?”

“Yes! My Dad is a very ambitious person but he sees to it that it will work. He has nobody beside him but me so i ended up working hard too. You know.”

“I see.But enough of the work topics. Care to order some food?” She changed the topic.

“Of course.”

They ended up eating some steak and salad and a bottle of wine.

Cedrick poured wine on Victoria’s glas then his. He wanted to make a toast for them. “Cheers for meeting me today,” he smiled. “And for more dinners together.” He continued. Victoria picked her glass and smiled sweetly on his remark.

“Cheers!”

While Victoria is drinking her wine, she cannot stop thinking while she looks at him. He is a handsome guy in his 30’s. She is thinking about what specific actor he looks like. Aaaah, yes! Matthew Mcconaughey. The younger version of him except that he is not blond and curly. He looks like him with a clean cut beard. His way of dressing is also top notch. He smiled a lot but she observed that he cannot look her in the eyes for long. Is her father correct? That he was interested in her even before?
